Refugee Care Kit Donation Drive
International Law Society conducted a three-week Donation Drive where UK College of Law faculty, staff and students donated personal necessity items resulting in the delivery of care kits delivered to the Kentucky Refugee Ministries to support twenty-seven refugees.
College of Law, along with faculty and law students, partnered with the Fayette County Bar Association to co-host the first Summer Law Institute, a seven-day residential Law Camp, for high school juniors and seniors interested in the legal profession. 17 high school students attended classes, viewed live court sessions, shadowed an attorney and participated in mock oral arguments on the final day. Legal Aid University
College of Law served as host site for a KBA Young Lawyers Program, Legal Aid University: How Young Lawyers Can Build a Practice and Hone Skills. The program offered lawyers and interested second- and third-year law students the opportunity to learn basic skills in a variety of high-demand practice areas, with the attorneys agreeing to accept at least three pro bono cases from a local legal aid program. The areas of practice included in the sessions were evictions, basic divorce matters, expunging criminal records and basic estate planning.
