David Wright joined the University of Kentucky College of Law in Fall 2017 as Assistant Dean of Student Services. Before joining the College of Law, he was Director of Development at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN. He also previously served in the Division of Student Affairs at UK as the advisor for the University’s Student Government Association, and formerly was an advisor to the Associated Student Government at the University of Arkansas. Prior to his career in higher education, Dean Wright was an associate at Hayes, Alford & Johnson, PLLC in Fort Smith, AR where he handled a wide variety of civil litigation and appellate matters, with particular focus on construction law and employment litigation.
As Assistant Dean, Dean Wright provides support for College of Law students on a range of non-academic matters, including student organizations, student leadership, financial aid and financial wellness, student conduct, and individual counseling. Dean Wright also works with students on character and fitness questions concerning their bar application.
Dean Wright is a native of Hope, AR, and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas. He earned his law degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Evaluation at UK.
