Department

Kristin J. Hazelwood is Spears-Gilbert Associate Professor of Law at the College of Law, where she teaches legal research and writing. Professor Hazelwood previously taught legal writing at Vanderbilt University Law School and Belmont University College of Law, both in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Prior to teaching, she practiced with Bass, Berry & Sims, PLC in Nashville. She practiced in the firm’s environmental, commercial, and litigation departments. 

She received her B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Louisville in 1996. She was a member of the inaugural class of McConnell Scholars at the University of Louisville. 

Professor Hazelwood received her law degree magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 1999. She was a Staff Writer and Executive Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review. Her note, “Let the Buyer Beware: The Seventh Circuit’s Approach to Accept-or-Return Offers,” was published in the Washington & Lee Law Review and received an award for the best student-written note.

On your mark, get set, go! On Sunday, October 15, the UK Law Wellness Initiative, a student organization at the University of Kentucky College of Law, held their second annual Race Judicata 5K at Wellington Park to promote a healthier law school community among students, faculty and staff.

Approximately 50 participants laced up their running shoes and crossed the 5K finish line, while additional spectators cheered them on along the route.

On Wednesday, May 19, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its fifth annual Developing Ideas Conference.  Richard Ausness, Associate Dean for Faculty Research and Everett H. Metcalf, Jr. Professor of Law at UK College of Law, spearheaded the 2015 Conference.
