Guion Johnstone is the supervising attorney for the Immigration Law Externship. She is the Executive Director of the Kentucky Bar Foundation. Prof. Johnstone holds JD and MSW degrees from the University of Louisville. Prior to joining the Kentucky Bar Foundation, she was the Director of the Maxwell Street Legal Clinic and worked as a forensic social worker for New York County Defender Services in New York City and as a staff attorney to Hon. Phillip J. Shepherd, Chief Judge of Franklin Circuit Court in Frankfort, KY. During law school, she interned for Immigration Legal Services at Catholic Charities where she assisted immigrant victims of domestic violence with U-Visas and VAWA self-petitions. She has also completed internships at the Legal Aid Society of Louisville, the Federal Community Defenders in Philadelphia, and the Smithsonian’s Latino Center in Washington, D.C.
