The tradition of Trivia Night continues in full swing thanks to the collaborative effort of the UK Law Legal Clinic and Student Bar Association (SBA). This year, 34 teams rose to the occasion at Campus Pub to raise funds for the UK Legal Clinic by competing in a fun evening of putting their knowledge of law and popular culture to the test.

The University of Kentucky College of Law’s Trial Advocacy Board (TAB) Mock Trial team of Matthew Boggs and Caleb Taylor won the 2018 Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) Regional Trial Competition, held February 16-18 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Boggs and Taylor beat 22 other teams from Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee to win the coveted top spot as the region's best trial advocacy team. They are the 11th team in UK Law’s history to have raised the bar and won.

Students in the University of Kentucky College of Law Legal Clinic are known for providing pro bono services to low income community members. A lesser known fact is that each year, the students also provide Thanksgiving dinners – turkeys and all the fixings – to clients and families.

30 teams battled it out at HopCat last month for the University of Kentucky College of Law’s third annual Trivia Night. A record $1,540 was raised by students, faculty and staff to benefit the UK Law Legal Clinic.

Approximately 200 members of the UK Law community came out to answer questions in categories that included horse racing, Kentucky sports, and bourbon. The money raised will go towards purchasing Thanksgiving dinners, and covering filing fees and other costs for Legal Clinic clients.

Every spring, the University of Kentucky College of Law hosts its commencement ceremony. Though the commencement format may rarely change, there is noticeable difference in seeing how each graduating class leaves its own unique mark.

Friday, May 5, was dedicated to celebrating the Class of 2017. 113 eager law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: a UK Law diploma.

Allison Connelly, Director of the Legal Clinic and James and Mary Lassiter Professor of Law, is the recipient of the 2016 Duncan Teaching Award at the University of Kentucky College of Law. 

Every year, a UK Law faculty member is recognized for excellence in the classroom, courtesy of the Robert M. and Joanne K. Duncan Faculty Improvement Fund – established in 1982 to promote outstanding teaching performance at the college.

Eighteen diverse high school students, representing all of Lexington’s public high schools and Sayre, came to the University of Kentucky College of Law on June 12-18 for the third annual Summer Law Institute (SLI) – a seven-day residential Law Camp for rising juniors and seniors interested in law and the legal profession.

Kenleigh Joseph, a student at Tates Creek High School, participated in the camp this year.
