UK Law Professors Allison Connelly and Bill Fortune were honored at the KBA 2015 Annual Convention.
The Kentucky Bar Association (KBA) honored Professor Allison Connelly with the 2015 Donated Legal Services Award during their annual membership luncheon. The Donated Legal Services Award is given to “an individual in good standing with the KBA and currently involved in pro bono work. The selection process places special emphasis on the nature of the legal services contributed and the amount of time involved in the provision of free legal services.”
On June 17 in Lexington, KY, the University of Kentucky College of Law and the Law Alumni Association inducted three new members into the 2015 Hall of Fame at an alumni reception held annually in conjunction with the Kentucky Bar Association Convention.
UK Law’s Office of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) recently held the 17th Biennial Judge Joe Lee Bankruptcy Institute. While this year’s institute was as successful as ever, there was a bittersweet feeling in the air with the absence of a key attendee. Judge Joe Lee passed away on May 21, 2015 – exactly two weeks before his namesake institute.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, the Kentucky Senate honored Professor Robert G. Lawson with a resolution in recognition of his upcoming retirement from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Senator Morgan McGarvey (UK Law ‘07) introduced Senate Resolution No. 199 which was co-sponsored by Senate President Robert Stivers II, Senate Minority Caucus Chair Gerald Neal, Senate Minority Whip Julian M. Carroll (UK Law ’56) and Senators Reginald Thomas, Wil Schroder, and Robin Webb. The Resolution read:

The American Bar Association calls on each lawyer to render at least 50 hours of pro bono legal services per year. In the 2014-2015 academic year, University of Kentucky College of Law students went well above and beyond that to serve Kentuckians.
On Friday, May 8, 2015, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2015. Family and friends gathered in the Singletary Center for the Arts to honor and celebrate the graduating students.
The University of Kentucky College of Law recently honored the hard work and dedication of the officers, members, advisors, and coaches of the Moot Court Board and Trial Advocacy Board (TAB), as well as many first-year students in connection with their Legal Research and Writing (LRW) Clubs. The Litigation Banquet recognizes the students who have excelled in both written and oral advocacy.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader and University of Kentucky College of Law alumnus Mitch McConnell has been named to Time's 100 Most Influential People list and will be featured in the annual Time 100 issue available on newsstands April 27.
The list, now in its 12th year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.
The UK College of Law chapter of the Federalist Society hosted its inaugural spring banquet at Jefferson Davis Inn on April 1. Nearly thirty members of the chapter and other law students attended to hear U.S. Representative Andy Barr (a former University of Kentucky College of Law Federalist Society chapter president) speak on his time at the University of Kentucky and how federalism principles influence his votes in Congress.
