Every year, a College of Law faculty member is recognized for excellence in the classroom, courtesy of the Robert M. and Joanne K. Duncan Faculty Improvement Fund – established in 1982 to promote outstanding teaching performance at the College of Law.
The Young Lawyers Division of the Kentucky Bar Association honored UK College of Law Professor Bob Lawson with the 2014 Outstanding Service to Young Lawyers Award during their annual luncheon at the Kentucky Bar Association Convention on June 19. Professor Allison Connelly, the inaugural recipient of this award, introduced Professor Lawson. Professors William Fortune, Chris Frost, Melissa Henke, and Kathy Moore were also in attendance to watch Professor Lawson receive this well-deserved honor.
On June 18 in Covington, KY, the University of Kentucky College of Law and the Law Alumni Association inducted three new members into the 2014 Hall of Fame at an alumni reception held annually in conjunction with the Kentucky Bar Association Convention.
The Hall of Fame was established to acknowledge graduates who have achieved extraordinary professional success, have a high degree of character and integrity, and have a profound positive impact on the College of Law. The three Hall of Fame inductees are Albert B. “Ben” Chandler III, W. David Denton, and William R. Garmer.
Award-winning filmmaker and College of Law Professor Brian Frye will travel to Istanbul on May 8-13 to present his first feature-length documentary, Our Nixon, at the TRT Film Festival.
Our Nixon is an 85-minute documentary comprised of Super 8 home movies, television news, and archival interviews shot by top Nixon aides H.R. Haldeman, John Ehrlichman, and Dwight Chapin between 1969 and 1972. The film provides a new perspective on how Haldeman, Ehrlichman and Chapin experienced working for President Nixon, and their role in the Watergate conspiracy.
Congratulations are in order for a University of Kentucky husband and wife team – Philosophy Professor Stefan Bird-Pollan and College of Law Professor Jennifer Bird-Pollan. They are first-time recipients of Fulbright Visiting Professorships, given by the Fulbright Scholar Program.
A Fulbright award sends U.S. scholars to foreign countries for academic exchange. Currently 155 countries participate in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Ultimately this program will help lead to a more peaceful, prosperous world.
National Jurist Magazine has again named the University of Kentucky College of Law a Top 10 Best Value Law School. UK Law is ranked 7th out of nearly 200 ABA-accredited schools, based on tuition, cost of living, bar passage, debt accumulation and employment success.
