Students in Election Law Class with Trey Grayson

Trey Grayson (Law ’97), the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce CEO, spoke to Professor Josh Douglas' election law class on Monday, November 17 about his service on the Presidential Commission on Election Administration (the Bauer-Ginsburg Commission).

Before becoming President of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Grayson was director of the Harvard University Institute of Politics. Prior to that, he served two terms as Kentucky Secretary of State.

Grayson holds an MBA and JD from the University of Kentucky.

Students and Judges Outside Law School Courtroom

The University of Kentucky College of Law and the Patterson School of Diplomacy were pleased to welcome to campus, in partnership with U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove (UK Law ’89), five judges from Turkey on September 23, 2014. The judges (Ayise Kalem, Murat Oner, Seckin Kocer, Volkan Muftuoglu, and Zekiye Ozturk) served on a panel with Judge Van Tatenhove, Professor Cortney Lollar, and Professor Marianna Jackson Clay as moderator. They discussed the similarities and differences between the judicial and legal education systems of Turkey and the United States.

The Kentucky Law Journal and the University of Kentucky College of Law present a Symposium on Data Privacy entitled “Your Rights in a Digital World,” on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 9:30 – 2:30 pm. The event will take place in the College of Law Courtroom.

This symposium is dedicated to the question of how we govern data privacy when personal data is ubiquitous.

CDO's Judicial Clerkship Panel

Students considering summer and post-graduation clerkships filled the College of Law Courtroom on Wednesday, March 12, for the Judicial Clerkship Panel. The panel of state and federal judges, representing the trial and appellate levels of the state and federal judiciary, and their law clerks, spent the hour speaking about the benefits of judicial clerkships and encouraging students to submit applications.

Legal Aid Unjiversity at the UK College of Law

The University of Kentucky College of Law served as the host site on Friday, March 14, for Legal Aid University: How Young Lawyers Can Build a Practice and Hone Skills. This free CLE program, put together by the KBA Young Lawyers Division and Kentucky Legal Aid Programs, is offered to lawyers interested in learning basic skills in a variety of high-demand practice areas and who agree to accept at least three pro bono cases from the local legal aid program.
