The University of Kentucky College of Law has been ranked #21 of the 50 best law schools in America (#6 among public schools) by Business Insider, the largest business news site on the web.

Exactly how did Business Insider determine which law schools are the best in the country? They based their ranking on the schools showing the best results right now. By using data from the American Bar Association (ABA), they focused primarily on graduates’ success in the legal job market. They concentrated on the percentage of graduates who land full-time, long-term, highly sought-after jobs including positions at law firms with over 251 attorneys and federal clerkships.

The ranking also looked at the percentage of graduates with full-time, long-term jobs that require passing the bar, the percentage of those who are unemployed but seeking employment, bar-passage rate, tuition, and median LSAT scores.

"While we still have ample work to do, these results confirm that UK Law continues to effectively prepare students for life after law school in a manner that is respectable and focused on our mission as Kentucky’s flagship land grant institution,” said David A. Brennen, Dean and Professor of Law at UK College of Law.

The article noted that tuition for the 2015-2016 academic year at UK Law was only $21,618 for Kentucky residents and $40,836 for nonresidents – much cheaper than other top-25 schools on the list. It also commended UK Law’s four dual-degree programs, two law journals and more than 20 student-run organizations.
