The book’s focus is on the needs of students who want to practice health care law in a post-ACA (Affordable Care Act) world, whether in law firms, government, in-house, or making policy.

UK Law Student Wins First Place in IP Writing Competition

September 21, 2016 Benjamin Tuttle (UK Law ’16) has been selected as the first place winner of the 2016 Georgia State University Intellectual Property (IP) Writing Competition, which he entered during his third-year of law school.  The competition asks law students to submit papers that address legal issues and challenges in the IP field. Entries are judged on originality of thought, contributions to the law and practice, completeness of scholarly research and the style and content of the work.

Her research focuses on criminal law and she has consulted with Congress and the CIA on money laundering. "One of my earliest and most successful publications was on money laundering," Welling says, specifically a form called "smurfing" that started at the height of the drug wars. She admits the colorful name peaked her interest.

Ollen B. Hinnant II Leaves Behind Legacy as First African-American Graduate of UK Law

September 1, 2016 Ollen B. Hinnant II (UK Law ’55), who passed away at the age of 85 on August 4, 2016, left behind three children and one grandson. But, he also left behind an enduring legacy at the University of Kentucky College of Law as the first African-American student to graduate from the law school. A native of Lexington and a 1952 graduate of Kentucky State University, Hinnant helped change the course of the institution and the Commonwealth.
