The Women’s Law Caucus, a student organization at the UK J. David Rosenberg College of Law, held its annual spring reception on March 23, honoring Fayette District Court Judge Melissa Murphy, an alumna of the law school; Blanche Bong Cook, Roberg E. Harding Jr. associate professor of law; and second-year law student Sterling T. Crayton.
Crayton won the Rebecca Westerfield Award for Excellence in Leadership for his advocacy for women in the legal profession.
UK J. David Rosenberg College of Law students Shantale Davis and Ashlei McPherson, both first-year law students, recently placed first in the 2021 Law Student Diversity Virtual Case Competition hosted by Cincinnati-based law firm Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL in partnership with the University of Cincinnati College of Law’s Center for Professional Development.
Third-year law students Amanda Krugler and Scott Sullivan of the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law were awarded first place in the American Bar Association’s 19th Annual Law Student Tax Challenge, J.D. Division, in February.
University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law students Asia Ellis, Anthony Franklin, Taylor Kennedy and Toria Levy finished in fourth place, out of 61 teams, in the National Black Law Student Association Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition.
The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law Moot Court Team recently placed second overall at the Region 4 competition of the New York City Bar Association annual National Moot Court Competition at the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, and will advance to the national competition in New York City in February 2020.
Joshua A. Douglas, Thomas P. Lewis Professor of Law, is the recipient of the 2019 Duncan Teaching Award at the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Every year, a UK Law faculty member is recognized for excellence in the classroom, courtesy of the Robert M. and Joanne K. Duncan Faculty Improvement Fund, which was established in 1982 to promote outstanding teaching performance at the college. Recipients are selected by the dean with emphasis placed on student evaluations.
University of Kentucky College of Law Director of the Office of Continuing Legal Education, Kevin P. Bucknam, was honored for 25 years of service, on July 26, 2019, during the UK Law CLE 46 Annual Midwest-Midsouth Estate Planning Institute.
