On May 11 in Louisville, KY, the University of Kentucky College of Law and the Law Alumni Association inducted three new members into the 2016 Hall of Fame at an alumni reception held annually in conjunction with the Kentucky Bar Association Convention.

Brian L. Frye, Assistant Professor of Law at the UK College of Law, has been selected by the University of Houston Law Center’s Institute for Intellectual Property & Information Law (IPIL) to receive the 2016 Sponsored Scholarship Grant (SSG) for the Legal Academy.
The IPIL SSG Program is designed to facilitate newly-authored scholarship in specific areas of IPIL within the legal academy. For 2015-16, the focus is Copyright, Entertainment, Media, Art and Sports Law.
Congratulations to UK Law’s two Kentucky Mock Trial Championship teams who had strong showings at the recent state competition held in Covington, Kentucky. One team, comprised of second year students, advocates Alison Zeitlin and Josh Barnette, and witnesses Amy Robertson and James Wilson, was undefeated before losing in the championship round to an experienced 3L team from Louisville.

The University of Kentucky Office of Philanthropy has recognized a UK College of Law emeritus professor and three members of its staff for their demonstrated excellence in philanthropy at the 2015 Terry B. Mobley Development Awards, announced by D. Michael Richey, vice president for development and chief development officer. The ceremony was conducted Nov. 12 in the Helen G. King Alumni House.
The University of Kentucky College of Law has been named the 9th Best Value Law School in the nation by National Jurist magazine. This is the 11th consecutive year that UK Law has been ranked in the “Top 20” and the seventh consecutive year in the top 10. UK Law was the only Kentucky law school ranked in the Top 20.
UK Law Professors Allison Connelly and Bill Fortune were honored at the KBA 2015 Annual Convention.
The Kentucky Bar Association (KBA) honored Professor Allison Connelly with the 2015 Donated Legal Services Award during their annual membership luncheon. The Donated Legal Services Award is given to “an individual in good standing with the KBA and currently involved in pro bono work. The selection process places special emphasis on the nature of the legal services contributed and the amount of time involved in the provision of free legal services.”

Professor Paul Salamanca is the recipient of the 2015 Duncan Teaching Award at the College of Law.
Salamanca is described as professional, engaged in student success, and always willing to participate in events outside of the classroom. He plays a significant role in advancing the law school’s moot court efforts and developing practical skills in the law students who compete nationally in competition.
On Wednesday, March 11, 2015, the Kentucky Senate honored Professor Robert G. Lawson with a resolution in recognition of his upcoming retirement from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Senator Morgan McGarvey (UK Law ‘07) introduced Senate Resolution No. 199 which was co-sponsored by Senate President Robert Stivers II, Senate Minority Caucus Chair Gerald Neal, Senate Minority Whip Julian M. Carroll (UK Law ’56) and Senators Reginald Thomas, Wil Schroder, and Robin Webb. The Resolution read:
