Eighteen diverse high school students, representing all of Lexington’s public high schools and Sayre, came to the University of Kentucky College of Law on June 12-18 for the third annual Summer Law Institute (SLI) – a seven-day residential Law Camp for rising juniors and seniors interested in law and the legal profession.
Kenleigh Joseph, a student at Tates Creek High School, participated in the camp this year.

This spring, the University of Kentucky College of Law continued one of its signature pro bono efforts – the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. UK College of Law student volunteers provided free assistance with tax preparations and filings to mostly low income individuals with simple returns. Now that tax season is over, the 2016 numbers are in!

On Friday, May 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony to honor and celebrate the Class of 2016. 146 eager and remarkable law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: A UK Law diploma.
“Today is a day of joy – for graduates and for all of us here today. We all share your sense of accomplishment, your sense of relief, and your sense of anticipation about the future,” said David A. Brennen, Dean at UK College of Law.

And to study and practice music means to critically analyze and think creatively to conquer new challenges. So when people ask Stewart how he made the transition from being a professional violinist in Los Angeles to studying law at the University of Kentucky, it's not hard for him to connect the dots.

Law students at the University of Kentucky College of Law tackled a LGBT case at the 12th Annual Williams Institute LGBT Moot Court Competition in Los Angeles, California. This opportunity allowed the students to go beyond the classroom and gain valuable practical skills training. The UK Law students are members of the school’s OUTLaw student organization.

Eager to make a difference, three UK Law students packed their bags and started to drive toward their spring break destination: the small city of Prestonsburg, Kentucky. A break from the classroom but not from developing lawyering skills, Nick Modarressi, Ryan Mosley and Mark Roth set out on a week-long adventure to help the Eastern Kentucky community.

The light of election law shined on Kentucky last Friday, March 25, as the Kentucky Law Journal (KLJ) and the University of Kentucky College of Law co-hosted an all-day symposium that brought powerhouse speakers from across the nation to the College of Law Courtroom. Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes kicked off the event titled, An Elective Perspective: Judicial Regulation of Politics in an Election Year, with the delivery of the keynote address.
