UK Law’s Office of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) hosted the 13th Biennial Consumer Bankruptcy Law Conference on March 24-25, at The Campbell House Hotel.

Over 180 bankruptcy law practitioners from the region attended the program. The 30 prestigious speakers included four federal bankruptcy judges from the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky:  Chief Judge Tracey N. Wise, Judge Gregory Schaaf, Judge Thomas H. Fulton, and Judge Alan Stout.  Additional judges speaking were the Honorable John P. Gustafson, bankruptcy judge from the Northern District of Ohio, and the Honorable Cynthia A. Norton, bankruptcy judge for the Western District of Missouri.

The legal practitioners who spoke represented both the debtor and creditor perspectives, the judiciary, and representatives of the U.S. Trustee’s Office. The 2016 Conference was co-chaired by Chapter 13 Trustee Beverly M. Burden, and Claude R. “Chip” Bowles, Jr. of Bingham Greenebaum Doll, both UK College of Law alumni. During the two-day conference, Chip Bowles, Jr., was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his 25 years of dedication and service as the Chair of this popular CLE event.
