UK Law Announces Lineup for Fall Visiting Speaker Series

August 28, 2017 Faculty members at the University of Kentucky College of Law will engage with scholars from other schools across the nation this fall by continuing to host two visiting speaker series: the Randall-Park Distinguished Speaker and Faculty Brownbag Speaker. Both series bring distinguished legal scholars to UK Law to present and discuss their research and ideas, providing important opportunities for junior scholars to share their research. Both series also increase the profile of the college by introducing UK Law faculty to senior scholars from other schools.

UK Law Honors Class of 2017 at Spring Commencement Ceremony

May 10, 2017 Every spring, the University of Kentucky College of Law hosts its commencement ceremony. Though the commencement format may rarely change, there is noticeable difference in seeing how each graduating class leaves its own unique mark. Friday, May 5, was dedicated to celebrating the Class of 2017. 113 eager law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: a UK Law diploma.

UK Law Hosts Conference to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of In re Gault

March 22, 2017 On Monday, March 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law hosted a conference entitled, “In re Gault: 50 Years Later,” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the landmark United States Supreme Court decision In re Gault, 387 U.S. 1 (1967). The event took place in the UK Law Courtroom and was open to the public.

UK Law’s KJEANRL Hosts Third Annual Symposium

March 21, 2017 On Tuesday, February 28, the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, & Natural Resources Law (KJEANRL), in conjunction with the University of Kentucky College of Law, hosted its third annual symposium entitled, “Faces of the Bluegrass.” Legal practitioners and regulators from across Kentucky shared their thoughts on current legal, policy, and regulation issues affecting the environment, natural resources, and energy. The symposium took place in the UK Law Courtroom and was open to the public.

New Video Series at UK Promotes Diversity and Inclusion, Premiere Event Set for Feb. 28

February 23, 2017 On Tuesday, February 28, the University of Kentucky College of Law Diversity Committee, in collaboration with UK Analytics and Technologies’ Media Depot, the Media Arts and Studies (MAS) Program, and the Writing, Rhetoric and Digital Studies (WRD) Program, will screen the first episode of a new video series entitled, Perspectives. The premiere event will take place in the auditorium of William T. Young Library from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. and conclude with a town hall discussion. Refreshments will be served following the event.

UK Law Announces Conference to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of In re Gault

February 22, 2017 On Monday, March 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law will host “In re Gault: 50 Years Later.” The conference, featuring some of the nation’s top juvenile justice scholars, will take place in the UK Law Courtroom from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.
