Mary J. Davis Named Interim Dean of College of Law

University of Kentucky Provost David Blackwell has named Professor Mary J. Davis to the position of interim dean of the College of Law. Dean David A. Brennen has been selected to participate in the American Council on Education's (ACE) Fellows Program, the longest running leadership development program in the United States.  At the conclusion of the fellowship year, Brennen will return to UK with new knowledge and skills that contribute to capacity-building efforts, along with a network of peers across the country and abroad.

UK Law Class of 2019 Celebrates Momentous Milestones, Awards 166 Graduates with Juris Doctor Degrees

On Friday, May 3, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony to honor and celebrate the momentous milestones of the Class of 2019.  166 eager and remarkable law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: A UK Law diploma.

UK Law’s #OneDayForUK Raises $15K-plus for Law School Projects

The University of Kentucky’s One Day for UK, a 24-hour day of giving celebrated on April 17, netted over $1M from 3,262 gifts, including $15,612 allocated for law school projects.  In its first year, the goal of One Day for UK was to raise awareness about the campaign and to encourage giving for the University of Kentucky. The online, social-media-driven campaign centered around community outreach, including reconnecting with alumni, engaging young alumni and motivating its strongest supporters to make a gift to any college, unit or cause of their choice.

UK Law Students Provide Free Filing Assistance, Save Tax Payers more than $65,000 in Fees

April 24, 2019 This tax season the University of Kentucky College of Law continued one of its signature pro bono efforts – the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.  Law student volunteers along with accounting students and an alumna provided free assistance with Tax preparations and filings to mostly low-income individuals with simple returns, as well as foreign students and scholars.

UK Law National Mock Trial Team Wins Regional Competition, Advances to Nationals

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 1, 2019) The University of Kentucky College of Law's National Trial Team will advance to the prestigious National Trials Competition (NTC) on March 27, in San Antonio, Texas. Earlier this month, Matthew Boggs and Madeline Moss were crowned regional champions — making them the 13th team in UK Law history to have claimed the title. They competed against 19 schools from Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.

Global Health Case Competition Winning Team to Compete at Emory

(Feb. 26, 2019) — Five students from the University of Kentucky placed in the UK Global Health Case Competition (GHCC), which rallied both undergraduate and graduate students from various colleges to collaborate on revolutionary research. Together, they worked toward a common goal — solving a global health concern. This year, competitors were tasked with tackling refugee health.

UK Law Hosts Noon Forum with Special Guests from the Federal Judiciary

Feb. 13, 2019 UK Law hosted a Noon Forum with special guests from the federal judiciary on campus in January.  This comprehensive student engagement opportunity included a panel discussion among four guest judges and a former U.S. Attorney, guest lecturer appearances by judges in two classes, and a luncheon with a group of students interested in federal judicial clerkships.

UK Law's KJEANRL Announces Fifth Annual Symposium

UK Law Student is First Recipient of "Law Student of the Year" Award from Legal Aid of the Bluegrass

November 28, 2018 Third-year law student Julie Greenlee was presented with the Legal Aid of the Bluegrass 2018 Law Student of the Year award this month. Greenlee is the first UK Law student to receive this honor according to Josh Fain, Esq., Pro Bono Coordinator at Legal Aid of the Bluegrass (LABG).
