Trivia Night Raises Record Amount for UK Law Legal Clinic

October 4, 2017 30 teams battled it out at HopCat last month for the University of Kentucky College of Law’s third annual Trivia Night. A record $1,540 was raised by students, faculty and staff to benefit the UK Law Legal Clinic. Approximately 200 members of the UK Law community came out to answer questions in categories that included horse racing, Kentucky sports, and bourbon. The money raised will go towards purchasing Thanksgiving dinners, and covering filing fees and other costs for Legal Clinic clients. 

UK Law Faculty Members Receive Promotions, Tenure

July 5, 2017 The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees recently approved promotions and/or tenure for five UK Law faculty members: Tina M. Brooks, Kristin J. Hazelwood, Diane B. Kraft, Cortney E. Lollar, and Franklin L. Runge.

UK Law Student Wins First Place in IP Writing Competition

September 21, 2016 Benjamin Tuttle (UK Law ’16) has been selected as the first place winner of the 2016 Georgia State University Intellectual Property (IP) Writing Competition, which he entered during his third-year of law school.  The competition asks law students to submit papers that address legal issues and challenges in the IP field. Entries are judged on originality of thought, contributions to the law and practice, completeness of scholarly research and the style and content of the work.

UK Law Honors Class of 2016, Awards 146 Graduates with Degrees

May 17, 2016 On Friday, May 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony to honor and celebrate the Class of 2016. 146 eager and remarkable law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: A UK Law diploma. “Today is a day of joy – for graduates and for all of us here today. We all share your sense of accomplishment, your sense of relief, and your sense of anticipation about the future,” said David A. Brennen, Dean at UK College of Law.

UK Law Students Volunteer with Local Charities

The students in the University of Kentucky College of Law Class of 2018 are now several days into their first semester of law school. These individuals have chosen to pursue a career dedicated to assisting individuals and businesses in a time of need. Though they are a few years away from starting their legal careers, members of the Class of 2018 are already giving back to the Lexington community through service projects they participated in during UK Law’s Orientation. On Saturday, August 22, students and faculty assisted four local charities including Aids Volunteers, Inc.

UK Law Librarians Offer Programming to Enhance Research Skills

As UK Law students leave the classroom and enter the workforce for summer employment opportunities, the Law Librarians want to make sure they are well equipped with the knowledge needed to excel in their positions. This effort gave birth to the Clerk/Associate Research Insights Bootcamp (C.R.I.B).  Five instructional sessions focusing on different areas of research were offered to help students sharpen their skills.  Takeaways from the program included:
