In 2020, the Law Alumni Association started a mentorship program in which we pair second semester 1Ls with distinguished alumni. We try and match mentees/mentors together based on hometowns, undergraduate alma mater, areas of practice, etc. Students greatly benefit from getting to know and learning from our outstanding alumnus.
The process is very informal. If you agree to be a mentor, we will send an email to you and your mentee by the end of February. They’ll reach out to arrange time to have coffee/lunch, etc. or set up a Zoom or a phone call. We want these mentees to have someone throughout their three years of law school who can provide them with advice if they ask.
You have the opportunity to accept a new mentee however often you would like. Whether you take on one mentee or one mentee each year, every alumni volunteer will have an impact on our students. Please reach out to maya.elias@uky.edu with questions or concerns.
