Moot Court Board National Team Competes in 75th Annual Regional Moot Court Competition
The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law Moot Court Board National Team recently competed in the 75th Annual Regional Moot Court Competition in Cleveland, Ohio. The problem involved complex legal issues relating to Article III standing and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Team A was made up of students Preston Huennekens, Kody Lynn Morgan, and Gavin Wedel.
• Gavin and Kody Lynn went 3-0 on Friday during some tough oral argument rounds. They advanced to the semi-final round on Saturday, where they gave it their all. It was a very close result, and the duo ended up with an impressive 3rd place finish overall (out of 14).
• Also impressive is that Preston wrote the entire brief for this team, and the brief scored #4 out of 14.
Team B was made up of Jacob Bruce, Ashlee Gilbert, and Alli Wade.
• All three students wrote the team's brief together, and that team effort paid off with a brief score of #2 out of 14. This earned the team the Runner-Up Best Brief award.
• All three students also argued on Friday. They ended up drawing the two teams that would go on to the final round as their preliminary round opponents. While it was a tough draw, our students held their own, and they kept the scores very close in both rounds. Jacob and Ashlee then rocked the third round with a win over their opponents.
UK Rosenberg Law Professor Melissa Henke joined the team at the competition. Henke shared that several law school professors and UK Rosenberg Law National Team alumni helped prepare the students for the competition, including Acting Dean Paul Salamanca; Professors Laken Albrink, John Blevins, Michael Healy, Jason Steed, and Alexandra Sipes; and alumni Harper Anderson, Jacob Baird, Holly Hammons, and Cassie Carter.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
