University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg Law Professor Joshua A. Douglas spoke to students on Tuesday, Sept. 13 about voting rights laws in an event co-hosted by the law library and UK Student Government Association. The college planned a series of events leading up to Constitution Day 2022.

Douglas, Ashland, Inc. – Spears Distinguished Research Professor of Law, teaches and researches election law and voting rights, civil procedure, constitutional law, and judicial decision making. He is author of Vote for US: How to Take Back our Elections and Change the Future of Voting. He has been published in top journals and major newspapers, and he is often interviewed for his election expertise.

The law professor gave an overview of the Voting Rights Act and took questions related voter identification laws, the electoral college, etc. Second-year law student Bailey Pierce moderated the event held in Room 297 (C. Edward Glasscock ’69 and Mary F. Glasscock/Family of Wm. T. ’71 and Joan Robinson III).

Constitution Day 2022 is on Saturday, Sept. 17. Students picked up free copies of the U.S. Constitution at the event on Tuesday. On Friday, the law school will host a reading of the Constitution during the lunch hour.
