Lou Anna Red Corn

Lou Anna Red Corn dedicated nearly all of her 39-year legal career to public safety as both the elected Fayette Commonwealth Attorney (retired 2022) and as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney. During her time as a prosecutor, Red Corn tried over 232 felony jury trials, including 56 homicide trials. Much of her work has focused on holding accountable those who hurt children.
She is a founding and current board member of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, helped write Kentucky’s Model Protocol for child sexual abuse multidisciplinary review, and is a board member of the National Children’s Alliance, the national organization that accredits CACs in the United States. Red Corn is the recipient of numerous professional awards, including the KY Attorney General’s Outstanding Prosecutor Award, the KY Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Attorney of the Year Award, the University of Kentucky College of Law Alumni Professional Achievement Award, and the Kentucky Association of Children’s Advocacy Centers Legendary Partners Award.
Following her retirement and through the summer of 2023, Red Corn volunteered with the Osage Nation Attorney General in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. In the fall of 2023, she joined the adjunct faculty of the J. David Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky, where she co-teaches the capital punishment course. Red Corn continues to train prosecutors, is an active Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, and recently began serving on the Lexington Public Safety Museum. Red Corn is an enrolled citizen of the Osage Nation.
