Margaret Pisacano

Margaret Pisacano, RN, JD, CPHRM, is the co-supervisor of the UK Health Care Externship. She is Associate General Counsel and Director of Risk Management for UK HealthCare, overseeing Risk operations throughout UK HealthCare. Prior to her graduation from the UK College of Law in 1989, she was as a registered nurse with experience in a variety of clinical areas. She worked as a medical malpractice defense attorney in private practice for eighteen years before joining the University of Kentucky in 2007. As Director of Risk Management for the Medical Center, she manages all medical malpractice litigation brought against the University of Kentucky Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers and provides legal counsel to the Medical Center on a wide range of enterprise and operational risk issues. She has been a frequent lecturer and presenter on medical risk issues and malpractice avoidance issues throughout her legal career.
