Shannon Price

Assistant Professor of Law

Professor Shannon Price joined the Rosenberg College of Law in 2026. She teaches Remedies, Evidence, and Civil Procedure, all with a central focus on legal practice and advocacy skills. 

Professor Price’s research and scholarship centers on access-to-justice issues in state civil dockets, with a particular focus on remedies and the role of traditional democratic checks - like the jury trial - in protecting vulnerable litigants. Her work has been published - or is forthcoming - in the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy, the University of Cincinnati Law Review, the Cardozo Law Review, the Journal of Advocacy and Litigation, and the ABA Judges Journal. Her first book publication, The Jury’s Out: The Fight to Save the American Legal System, is co-authored with Judge (ret.) Pierre Bergeron and will be available from Cornell University Press in November of 2026. 

Before joining the faculty, Professor Price was a co-founder of the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts Municipal Help Center’s Same Day Eviction-Defense Program in Cincinnati, Ohio. In two years, Professor Price filed more than 1,000 appearances in Hamilton County Municipal Court and defended more than 500 households facing eviction. Her work was featured in news outlets including NPR’s WVXU, the Cincinnati Enquirer, and Fox19. She was a finalist for the 2026 Upstander Awards from the Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center and received the 2026 Judd Award for an emerging social justice leader from Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME). She spent her first three years in practice with the City of Cincinnati Law Department, which she credits with fostering her deep love of local government and community-focused legal work. 

Professor Price received her J.D. from Yale Law School and an Honors Bachelor of Arts from Xavier University in Cincinnati, where she double-majored in the Philosophy, Politics, and the Public (PPP) Program and in Art. She still paints whenever she can, and is an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction books.
