Chad Thompson is an attorney who has been licensed to practice in the Commonwealth for more than ten years. He currently serves as General Counsel for the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet, where he provides legal representation in civil, administrative, and regulatory matters. Prior to joining state government, he litigated cases across the state as a private practitioner, with a primary focus in professional liability defense. Since transitioning to the public sector, he has also acted as Deputy General Counsel for the Cabinet; as General Counsel for the Kentucky Department of Insurance; and as Deputy General Counsel for the then-Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, where he routinely defended administrative appeals and civil litigation initiated against each agency. When he isn’t advocating on behalf of those he represents, Chad enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and dog; cheering on his Kentucky Wildcats; and listening to whatever live music he can find.
