DEE ASHLEY AKERS SCHOLARSHIP
The Dee Ashley Akers Scholarship was created in 2009 by the Lilialyce Akers Revocable Trust in memory of Dee Ashley Akers. This endowment was established to provide scholarships to students at the Rosenberg College of Law.
MARK ROBERT BARTELLA SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 2002 by Brenda Bartella Peterson in honor of her son, Mark Robert Bartella, who was to be a member of the College of Law Class of 2005. The recipients of the scholarships should be individuals who have demonstrated an interest in public service.
THOMAS P. BELL SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was created in 1986 in honor of Thomas Bell '50 by his wife, Leslie Bell and son, Judge Bruce Bell '82. This endowment was established to provide scholarships to students in the Rosenberg College of Law.
LYNN BENNETT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in honor of Lynn Bennett '82 by her classmates. This scholarship aims to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The recipients shall be selected by the scholarship committee.
ANDREW BUNNELL SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT
This endowment was established to provide scholarships to first or second year students in the College of Law. These scholarships were created by Jack and Christa Bunnell in memory of their son, Andrew Bunnell, who was a student at the College of Law. Preference should be given to students from Hart County, then to Muhlenberg County in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
COLLEGE OF LAW CLASS OF 1967 SCHOLARSHIP FUND
In 1992, Lionel Hawse created this scholarship on behalf of the University of Kentucky Law School Class of 1967. This endowment was established to provide scholarships based on merit and/or need.
COLLEGE OF LAW CLASS OF 1972 SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This scholarship was created in 1992 by Joseph Day on behalf of the class of 1972. This endowment was established to provide scholarships to recipients selected by the scholarship committee of the Rosenberg College of Law.
COLLEGE OF LAW CLASS OF 1978 SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1998 by Sarah N. Welling on behalf of the class of 1978. This endowment was created to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The recipients shall be selected based on academic merit and/or financial need.
BEN M. COMBS LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT LAW
This endowment was established in 1997 by Anne L. Combs in honor of her husband, Judge Ben M. Combs '48. This generous donation was created to provide funds for scholarships and awards in the UK Rosenberg College of Law. The scholarships should be awarded to second-year students who have excelled academically in labor and/or employment law. The awards should be given to third-year students who have excelled academically in labor and/or employment law courses.
THE BERT COMBS SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in honor of Governor Bert T. Combs '37, who during his life in public service and the practice of law exhibited a substantial and continuing interest in and commitment to education, the university and the Rosenberg College of Law. Combs was an impactful advocate for high-quality legal education. The income from the fund shall be used to provide merit and/or need-based scholarships.
JOHN C. DARSIE, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1994 by the friends and family of John Darsie, Jr. '61. This generous donation aims to provide scholarships for students in the Rosenberg College of Law. The recipients through past performance should demonstrate the potential for academic success.
ROSS HARRIS LAW SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1986 by Mr. Harris '74; he passed away in 2006. This endowment was created to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The awards shall be based on academic merit and economic need.
WILLIAM HENRY HARVEY LAW SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 2009 by Kerry B. Harvey in memory of William Henry Harvey. The goal of this endowment is to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law for students who are residents of Kentucky. Preference should be given to first-generation college students.
GLADNEY "HUCK" HARVILLE SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 2016 by Mary Beth Harville Griffith and Robert Griffith, in memory of Gladney "Huck" Harville. This endowment was created to award scholarships to students currently enrolled or accepted to admission in the Rosenberg College of Law. First preference shall be shown to students who face substantial financial impediments to achieving a legal education and are graduates of high schools located in Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia and Mississippi.
OLLEN B. HINNANT, JR. SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Ollen B. Hinnant, Jr. Scholarship was created in 2014 by John G. McNeill. This fund was created in memory of Ollen B. Hinnant, the first African-American to graduate from the College of Law in 1955. This endowment was established to provide scholarships to currently admitted students at the Rosenberg College of Law. Preference should be given to students who will contribute to the diversity of the law school student body.
JUDGE EDWARD H. JOHNSTONE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was created in 2013 by the family and past mentees in memory of Judge Edward H. Johnstone. This endowment was established to provide scholarships for students who will be incoming first-year law students. The recipients should have received their most recent degree at least two academic years before attending law school.
THE KEETON-MCGLONE LAW SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established by Charles R. Keeton and his wife, Mary Alice McGlone-Keeton, in 2013. This donation strives to provide scholarships to students at the beginning of their first academic year of study at the Rosenberg College of Law. Preference shall be given to students who permanently reside in Eastern Kentucky or graduated from an Eastern Kentucky high school.
JAMES L. KING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 1995 to pay tribute to James L. King, who served with distinction and honor as Circuit Judge for Kentucky's 39th Circuit Court, by his friend, Robert H. Cornett. The recipients shall be students in the Rosenberg College of Law who are natives and/or graduates of a high school or college in Breathitt, Powell or Wolfe counties in Kentucky.
CHARLES M. LANDRUM, JR. LAW SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1991 as a tribute to Charles M. Landrum, Jr. '42 for his contributions to the college and his distinguished career at the bar. This scholarship was created by the Landrum & Shouse Law Firm, of which Mr. Landrum was a founding partner.
ROBERT G. LAWSON SCHOLARSHIP
This fund was established in 2017 to provide annual scholarship support to students enrolled in the Rosenberg College of Law with strong academic record. This endowment was created by David A. Brennon, Dean, in honor of Professor Robert G. Lawson, who taught at the college for 50 years and served as Dean of the college on multiple occasions.
LARAMIE L. LEATHERMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 1994 by Portia Leatherman in memory of her husband Laramie Leatherman. This endowment was created to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The scholarships shall be awarded to second or third-year students who are enrolled full time, maintain a class rank in the top 20%, have an equivalent cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.
JUDGE JOE LEE SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1999 by Taft A. McKinstry in honor of Judge Joe Lee to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The recipients shall show financial need and demonstrate academic ability.
THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY COLLEGE OF LAW LEGAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Joel V. Williamson created this endowment in 2013 to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law to students who have been identified as at-risk of not completing their degree. First preference is given to students who have completed the Kentucky Legal Education Opportunity Summer Institute(KLEO) or a similar program. Recipients of this award are deemed the Joel V. Williamson Scholar.
CARROLL W. MORROW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established by a bequest from Carroll Morrow to establish scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law after his death. At the time of his death, his gift was the largest gift from an individual the law school had ever seen.
JONATHAN AND JENNIFER NIEMEYER LAW SCHOLARSHIP
Jonathan Niemeyer and his wife, Jennifer Niemeyer, created this endowment in 2023 to provide scholarships to students at Rosenberg College of Law. This scholarship is awarded to a first-generation law student who has demonstrated academic achievement. First preference goes to students who have graduated from the University of Kentucky, "Super Wildcats".
PAUL & ELIZABETH OBERST LEGAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1984 by Elizabeth Oberst as a memorial to honor her husband, Paul Oberst and to advance the core values by which he lived. Mr. Oberst was a leader of the civil rights movement, a champion of civil liberties and equal protection of all citizens under the law. He regarded law as an instrument of justice. Scholarships shall be awarded to students who show exceptional promise, demonstrate the commitment to human rights and justice and face substantial financial impediments to achieving a legal education.
JANA OLIVER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 1996 by Orson and Kathy Oliver to provide annually a Rosenberg College of Law scholarship. This donation is in honor of their daughter Jana Oliver, a member of the University of Kentucky Sigma Kappa Sorority who died tragically before she could carry out her dream of attending law school. First consideration will be given to incoming Rosenberg College of Law students who are members of Sigma Kappa. If in any year there are no incoming UK Rosenberg College of Law students who are members of Sigma Kappa, the scholarship will be divided among any other Sigma Kappas in the second or third year of law school.
JAMES PARK SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 1986 by the family of James Park in honor of his extraordinary distinction at the University of Kentucky as an undergraduate athlete, class of 1920 law student and 16 year member of the Board of Trustees. The scholarships are for outstanding students in the Rosenberg College of Law.
J.M. PERKINS SCHOLARSHIP
The J.M. Perkins Scholarship was created in 2009 through the last will and testament of Mr. Perkins' daughter, Velma Perkins. This endowment was established to provide scholarships to students at the Rosenberg College of Law.
PETER PERLMAN FELLOWSHIP
This endowment was established in 1999 by Peter Perlman to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The recipients shall be students at the Rosenberg College of Law who are chosen based on a demonstrated concern for providing equal justice under law for people through access to the justice system.
JAMES L. ROSE COLLEGE OF LAW ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established by James and Judy Rose in memory of their son, Scott Rose. This endowment was created to provide scholarships to be awarded based on academic merit and/or need in the Rosenberg College of Law.
COLVIN P. ROUSE SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1985 by Mr. Rouse '28, to encourage and support excellent scholarship in the Kentucky Law Journal. Awards from the fund shall be granted only to students who have demonstrated, through publication in the Law Journal, excellence in legal research and scholarship. Recipients should have made significant contributions to legal literature.
JOYCE M. RUSSELL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was created by Joyce M. Russell in 2023 to provide scholarships to students at Rosenberg College of Law. This is awarded to students who demonstrate an unmet financial need with a preference to students from Green County, Kentucky or another Kentucky county.
JUDGE THOMAS B. RUSSELL PUBLIC PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT
This fund was created in 2021 by Duncan and Alice Pitchford, in collaboration with other donors, to honor Judge Thomas B. Russell. This endowment was established to provide scholarships to students with demonstrated unmet financial needs at Rosenberg College of Law.
CALVERT T. ROSZELL, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 2017 by family and friends of Calvert T. Roszell, Jr. '48 to provide one or more annual scholarships for students in the Rosenberg College of Law who are graduates of a Kentucky high school.
WELDON SHOUSE LAW SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 1991 as a tribute to Weldon Shouse, a 1940 College of Law graduate. This fund was created by the Landrum & Shouse Law Firm, of which Mr Shouse was a founding partner. The firm wished to pay tribute to Mr. Shouse for his dedication and contributions to his career.
STUDENT BAR ASSOCIATION'S MOST IMPROVED SCHOLAR AWARD
This endowment was established in 1992 by the Student Bar Association of The University of Kentucky to provide funds to recognize and reward the law student who shows the most academic improvement from one semester to the next.
CAWOOD SMITH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 1997 by Hellen Smith, in honor of her late husband, Cawood Smith '50. Mr. Smith helped fundraise for the University of Kentucky College of Law, served on the Steering Committee, and a member of the Lafferty Society. This endowment was created to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law. The scholarships shall be awarded to students who are residents of Johnson, Martin, Pike, Floyd, Magoffin, Wolfe, Lee, Owsley, Breathitt, Perry, Knott, Letcher, Leslie, Harlan, Jackson, Clay, Rockcastle, Laurel, Whitley, Knox or Bell counties in Kentucky and demonstrate financial need.
TURNER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Frances R. Graver created this Scholarship in 2016 in honor of three generations of her family that practiced law in New Castle, Kentucky. This endowment was established in 2016 to provide scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law for either currently enrolled students or students who have been accepted for admission. First preference shall be given to students who graduated from a high school in Henry County, Kentucky. Recipients should exhibit potential for success and embody both high ethical standards and a belief in public service.

This endowment was created in 2022 by Colin Roberts '08 in honor of his mentor, Brook C. Ventura '01. Mr. Roberts created this fund as a sign of gratitude for Ms. Ventura's faith in him. This fund was created to support one or more annual scholarships in the Rosenberg College of Law for a student who has demonstrated unmet financial need and potential for academic success.

This endowment was created in 1987 by Professor Frederick Whiteside to honor his friend and colleague, Richard D. Gilliam, Jr. Professor Gilliam dedicated his life to the College of Law, leaving an impact on the education of young lawyers. He devoted himself to meeting his student's needs and inspired them to strive for integrity above all else. This fund was established to provide scholarships to students with academic merit and need of financial assistance.

This endowment was established in 1987 in honor of Professor Emeritus Willburt D. Ham. Professor Ham was a member of the Rosenberg College of Law faculty for almost 40 years. The endowment supports a professorship and scholarships for students based on their academic merits.

This endowment was established in 1981 to provide scholarships in the UK Rosenberg College of Law for deserving students. This fund was created by J. Woodford Howard, Jr. to honor his parents, J. This scholarship is awarded to students from Floyd, Breathitt, Magoffin, or Morgan Counties in Kentucky who show academic excellence and need for financial aid.

This endowment was established in 1988 by Ruth S. Mohney in memory of her husband, Gayle A. Mohney '31. JESSEL A. MOORE SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1989 by Jean R Moore in memory of her husband, Jessel A. Moore. The scholarship shall be awarded to students who are enrolled full-time in the Rosenberg College of Law, qualify for in-state tuition, maintain a 2.5 GPA and need financial assistance.
ROY MORELAND SCHOLARSHIP
This fund was created in 1958 through the last will and testament of Roy M. Moreland. This endowment was established to provide scholarships for second and third-year students in the Rosenberg College of Law. The scholarship award shall be granted based on scholarship, need and character.
FRANK MURRAY LAW SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was created in 1961 to honor Professor Frank Murray. His sister, Ethel Murray, created this fund for her late brother in her will. This fund provides scholarship support to student enrolled in the Rosenberg College of Law who demonstrate superior scholastic ability and need for financial assistance.
J. RICHARD OEXMANN CRIMINAL LAW AWARD
This endowment was established in 1987 in the Rosenberg College of Law by Mr. Oexmann, a University of Louisville Law graduate. The recipients shall be full-time students who have demonstrated great promise in the area of criminal law.

This endowment was established by Orson and Kathy Oliver in memory of their daughter, Jana Oliver, who was a UK student when she passed away in 1996. The fund shall support a scholarship in the Rosenberg College of Law with first consideration given to incoming students who are members of Sigma Kappa sorority.

In 2023, this endowment was established by Mitch Potter in loving memory of his son, J. Mitchell Potter II. Mr. Potter hopes through his fund, he can support law students achieve his son's dream of becoming a lawyer. This endowment was created to provide scholarships for students who have experienced personal challenges that potentially affect their ability to earn a law degree, preferably students from Pike, Martin, Floyd, Knott, Letcher, Lawrence, Johnson, Magoffin, Breathitt, Perry, Leslie, Harlan, Elliot, Morgan, Wolfe, Lee, Owsley, Clay, Knox, or Bell Counties in Kentucky or Mingo and Logan Counties in West Virginia.

This endowment was established in 2006 in memory of Steve Quillen, a 1984 College of Law graduate from Millstone, Letcher County, Kentucky. Scholarships shall be awarded to students in the College of Law from any of the following counties in Eastern Kentucky: Pike, Letcher, Jackson, Knott, Martin, Lawrence, Breathitt, Floyd, Magoffin, Perry, Bell, Harlan, Leslie, Knox, Owsley, Wolfe, Morgan, Elliott and Laurel.
CARROLL M. REDFORD, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
This fund was created in 2006 by Carroll M. Redford III '91 in memory of his father, Carroll M. Redford, Jr. '59. This endowment was established to provide an award for a student in the first year of law school and demonstrates financial need.
COLVIN P. ROUSE SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was established in 1986 by Mr. Rouse '28 to award tuition scholarships to students of the Rosenberg College of Law who are graduates of Centre College, Danville, Kentucky. The scholarship awards shall be based on academic achievement. The recipients shall be known as Colvin P. Rouse Scholars.
DOROTHY SALMON MEMORIAL
Professor Dorothy Salmon was a professor at UK's College of Law who unfortunately passed away in 1968. Following her death, a group of former students began reaching out to other alumni to raise funds for a fellowship in her name, and they succeeded in 1969. This endowment was established to provide financial aid to students with academic merit and are in need at the Rosenberg College of Law.
JOHN TODD SHELBY MEMORIAL
This endowment was created in 1971 at the bequest of John Craig Shelby to honor the memory of his father, John Todd Shelby. This fellowship was established to provide financial aid for students at the Rosenberg College of Law.
ISAAC T. STEWART FELLOWSHIP
This endowment was established in 2005 by David C. Fannin in memory of his father-in-law, Isaac T. Stewart, who was a sergeant in the Jefferson County Kentucky Police Department. The fellowship shall be awarded to a student in the Rosenberg College of Law, with a preference given to a student whose parents served as police officers, firefighters or other emergency first responders.
JUDGE MAC SWINFORD ENDOWED FELLOWSHIP

DR. BRITTANY BUCHANAN DOUGLAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This fund was established in 2020 by Daniel E. Whitley, Sr. in memory of Dr. Brittany Buchanan Douglas. This endowment was created to support a student with financial need in the UK Rosenberg College of Law, with preference given to a member of the Christian Legal Society Student organization.
THE EDWARD M. AND JOSEPHINE P. DAVIS DEAN'S AWARD IN LAW
Established in 2020 by Dean Mary J. Davis to honor her parents, Edward M. and Josephine P. Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Davis lived impactful lives in their community, where Edward was a business owner and a Air Force Veteran, and Josephine raised three successful children. Upon her installation as the first permanent female Dean of the Rosenberg College of Law, Dean Davis chose to mark the occasion by recognizing her roots and supporting the students she loves. This award is given to one student in the 2L or 3L class who has shown remarkable improvement between the first and second semester of the previous school year.
MICHAEL J. AND BEVERLY J. HARRISON LAW SCHOLARSHIP FUND
This endowment was established in 2016 by Michael and Beverly Harrison, husband and wife, to provide one or more annual scholarships for law students pursuing a Juris Doctor degree. Preference should be given to students defined as "at risk" by the Rosenberg College of Law for completing their Juris Doctor degree. Preference should also be given to students who are a native of Kentucky, as defined as having graduated from a high school located in Kentucky.
THE PROFESSOR ALLISON CONNELLY SEEK JUSTICE AWARDS
This fund was created in 2021 by Timothy C. Feld to honor Professor Allison Connelly '83. Professor Connelly has made a significant impact in the field of law in Kentucky as a public defender and the only woman ever named as Kentucky's Public Advocate. Professor Connelly joined the faculty in 1996 as the first director of the Rosenberg College of Law's Legal Clinic. She is also the founder of the Kentucky Legal Education Opportunity Program (KLEO). This fund was established to give 3 awards to deserving students. The first for a third-year student who has made extraordinary contributions to the Legal Clinic. The second award is given to a second-year student who has demonstrated excellence as a member of the Trial Advocacy Board. The third is awarded to a first-year student with exceptional legal aptitude, with preference given to a student who aligns with the University's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
THE HENRY R. HEYBURN STUDENT AND ALUMNI PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD FUND
This endowment was established in 1995 by John G. Heyburn II to honor the life and accomplishments of his father, Henry R. Heyburn. The goal of this fund is to provide funds for students in the Rosenberg College of Law. Recipients should be first or second year law students planning to enter public service upon graduation and who show interest in public service while in school.

This endowment was created by Albert Kocurek to keep foreign periodicals dealing with legal history and philosophy up to date and purchase books of the type found in this library.
LAFFERTY MEDAL MEMORIAL FUND
This fund was created in 1947 by Dean Alvin Evans and the former students of Dean William Lafferty, the first dean of the College of law. This endowment was established to give a medal to the student with the highest grade in their third-year property class.
LAW ALUMNI SPECIAL LOAN FUND
This endowment was created in 1993 by Jeffery B. Leland as a generous gift to the College of Law. Mr. Leland created this fund to award a deserving member of the Rosenberg College of Law to continue their excellence in legal education.

Dr. Roy Ray '28 and his wife, Virginia Ray, created this fund in 1978 to bring to the College of Law a distinguished scholar for a lecture on a legal topic of current interest each year.

This endowment was established in 1985 by Colvin P. Rouse '28 to encourage and support excellent scholarship in the Kentucky Law Journal. This fund was created to award a third-year student who has published in the Kentucky Law Journal, demonstrating outstanding scholarship. It is granted to students who have shown excellence in legal research and scholarship through their contributions to legal literature.
JOYCE M. RUSSELL SCHOLARSHIP
This fund was created by Joyce M. Russell. This endowment was created to award students in the Rosenberg College of Law who demonstrate unmet financial need, with a preference for students from Green County, Kentucky and second preference for students from any other Kentucky county.
THE GEORGE DAYTON SCHRADER FINANCIAL AWARD
This fund was created by George Dayton Schrader posthumously in 2019. This endowment was established to award a student in the Rosenberg College of Law who will write an article, paper, or composition reflecting independent research and creative writing on any subject in the field of law.
SCHWEMM FAMILY AWARD
This award honors the memory of Earl and Eunice Butler Schwemm, parents of Robert G. Schwemm, a professor at the University of Kentucky College of Law (1975-2019) and a member of the College’s Hall of Fame. Bob’s parents were the first in their families to gain a college degree, and his mother, a grade-school teacher, passed on her love of teaching to her sons. “My parents lived the American dream,” Bob says. “They did better than their parents and worked to provide an even better life for their children. They taught us that anyone can succeed if given a chance and that education is the key to a better life.” The scholarship is intended for second- or third-year students of modest economic means whose law-school performance has exceeded their predictors and who have shown an interest in social justice.

This endowment was created in 2019 by Judith Vance and her husband, Robert Vance '68. This fund was established to award scholarships to students at the Rosenberg College of Law with unmet financial needs.
PENNY R. WARREN SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was created in 2019 by Penny R. Warren '79. Ms. Warren is known for her many contributions towards the field of law and the Rosenberg College of Law and hopes to continue to do so with this generous gift. This fund was established to provide an award to a female and/or non-traditional, second-year student, in the top 15-20% of the class. This student should have some interest in public service and some history in community service.
REBECCA WESTERFIELD AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN LEADERSHIP
An award started in 2023 by The Honorable Rebecca Westerfield for a rising 3L student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership on campus, in the civic sphere, in the arts, or in scholarly research and writing.
WESTERN DISTRICT OF KENTUCKY BENCH AND BAR FUND SCHOLARSHIP
This endowment was created in 2013 by the United States District Court Western District of Kentucky. The goal of this fund is to provide scholarships for third-year students at the Rosenberg College of Law who have excelled academically, significantly outperformed their academic predictors and have demonstrated financial need. The students also must have completed their high school education in Kentucky or have been a resident in Kentucky for at least three years prior to entering law school.

ASHLAND INC. PROFESSORSHIP AND LAW SCHOLARS FUND
This endowment was established by combining into a single endowment the Ashland Professorship Fund and the Ashland Scholarship Fund. This fund shall support professorships in the Rosenberg College of Law and scholarships for Kentucky residents admitted to the college. Two professorships shall be awarded and named the Spears Research Professorships. The scholarships shall be known as the Ashland Legal Scholarships. Recipients of the scholarships should demonstrate high academic achievement as an undergraduate and on the LSAT, have financial need and interview for the scholarship.

This endowment was established in 1992 by the Norfolk Southern Foundation to honor former Kentucky Governor, Edward T. Breathitt(Class of '50). ROBERT E. HARDING JR. PROFESSORSHIP FUND
This endowment was established to honor the memory of Robert E. Harding, Jr(Class of '57), by his wife, Iola Harding. Mr. Harding was the second African-American graduate of the College of Law, known for his dedication to equal rights in his practice. This fund aims to provide salary support and existing research coupled with the generation of new ideas, concepts and research findings in the area of legal studies, in an amount determined by the dean of the Rosenberg College of Law.
THE NORMAN AND CAROLE HARNED LAW AND PUBLIC POLICY PROFESSORSHIP
In 2019, husband and wife Norman and Carole Harned created this endowment to identify the public policy opportunities and challenges facing Kentucky, to research potential improvements to those policies, and provide their results to policymakers with the goal of improving the quality of life for all Kentuckians. This fund was created to provide support to a distinguished tenured faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to legal research and/or education, uses generally acceptable legal research methods, and has research clearly linked to public policy, preferably in Kentucky.
JUDGE WILLIAM T. LAFFERTY PROFESSORSHIP OF LAW QUASI ENDOWMENT
This is a professorship that combined the existing William T. Lafferty fund with an endowment by H. Wendell Cherry(Class of '59) in 1983. Judge Lafferty was the first dean of the University of Kentucky College of Law and served from 1908-1922. This endowment was created to provide a professorship to a distinguished member of the faculty of the Rosenberg College of Law.

This endowment was established in 2000 to provide a professorship in the UK Rosenberg College of Law in memory of James and Mary Lassiter. Mr. Lassiter(Class of '49) outlined instructions to create this fund in honor of him and his late wife in his will. The support this fund provides may include salary, salary supplement, research assistance and other proper expenditures to assist the research and teaching efforts of the holder of the professorship.
