Women’s Law Caucus Launches New Lecture Series, Brings Inspiration to UK Law

September 27, 2016 The University of Kentucky College of Law Women’s Law Caucus (WLC) hosted the Honorable Pamela Goodwine (UK Law ’94) on Tuesday, September 20, as the first speaker of a new lecture series entitled, "Inspirational Women in the Law.” The idea for the lecture series is credited to Allie Vaughan Miller, a third-year law student and WLC Education Chair. Through the series, WLC hopes to provide students with access to prominent women attorneys and judges who can serve as an inspiration to both young women and men entering the legal profession.

UK Law Student Wins First Place in IP Writing Competition

September 21, 2016 Benjamin Tuttle (UK Law ’16) has been selected as the first place winner of the 2016 Georgia State University Intellectual Property (IP) Writing Competition, which he entered during his third-year of law school.  The competition asks law students to submit papers that address legal issues and challenges in the IP field. Entries are judged on originality of thought, contributions to the law and practice, completeness of scholarly research and the style and content of the work.

UK Law Co-Hosts Law Camp, Gives High School Students an Inside Look at a Legal Education

July 1, 2016 Eighteen diverse high school students, representing all of Lexington’s public high schools and Sayre, came to the University of Kentucky College of Law on June 12-18 for the third annual Summer Law Institute (SLI) – a seven-day residential Law Camp for rising juniors and seniors interested in law and the legal profession. Kenleigh Joseph, a student at Tates Creek High School, participated in the camp this year.

UK Law’s VITA Program Wraps up a Successful Season

June 17, 2016 This spring, the University of Kentucky College of Law continued one of its signature pro bono efforts – the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. May 17, 2016 On Friday, May 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony to honor and celebrate the Class of 2016. 146 eager and remarkable law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: A UK Law diploma. “Today is a day of joy – for graduates and for all of us here today.
