UK Law Announces Lineup for Spring Visiting Speaker Series

January 23, 2017 Faculty members at the University of Kentucky College of Law will engage with scholars from other schools across the nation this spring by continuing to host two visiting speaker series: the Randall-Park Distinguished Speaker and Faculty Brownbag Speaker.  Both series bring distinguished legal scholars to UK Law to present and discuss their research and ideas, providing important opportunities for junior scholars to share their research, and increasing the profile of the college by introducing UK Law faculty to senior scholars from other schools.

Chief Justice of the United States Visits UK

February 1, 2017 By Whitney Harder University of Kentucky College of Law students as well as judges, lawyers and clerks from across Kentucky were provided an extraordinary opportunity on February 1, as the Hon. John G. Roberts Jr., Chief Justice of the United States, visited the UK campus. Chief Justice Roberts was here as the first speaker for the newly established John G. Heyburn II Initiative for Excellence in the Federal Judiciary.

Kentucky Law Journal Hosts Symposium on 30-Year History of Batson v. Commonwealth

November 16, 2016 On Friday, November 4, the Kentucky Law Journal (KLJ) and the University of Kentucky College of Law co-hosted a symposium entitled, “30 Years of Batson: a Retrospective.” The symposium took place in the UK Law Courtroom and was open to the public.

UK Law Hosts Open Forum with Associate Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court

November 11, 2016 The University of Kentucky College of Law hosted Associate Justice Michelle Keller of the Kentucky Supreme Court on October 26 as part of UK Law’s 2016-17 Judicial Conversation Series. Justice Keller was appointed to the Kentucky Supreme Court in April 2013 by Governor Steve Beshear. She was elected to a full eight-year term on the bench in November 2014. She is also the chairwoman of the court system’s Kentucky Access to Justice Commission.

October 5, 2016 The University of Kentucky College of Law will host Justice Michelle Keller of the Kentucky Supreme Court and Judge Curtis Lynn Collier of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, as part of the 2016-17 Judicial Conversation Series.

Women’s Law Caucus Launches New Lecture Series, Brings Inspiration to UK Law

September 27, 2016 The University of Kentucky College of Law Women’s Law Caucus (WLC) hosted the Honorable Pamela Goodwine (UK Law ’94) on Tuesday, September 20, as the first speaker of a new lecture series entitled, "Inspirational Women in the Law.” The idea for the lecture series is credited to Allie Vaughan Miller, a third-year law student and WLC Education Chair. Through the series, WLC hopes to provide students with access to prominent women attorneys and judges who can serve as an inspiration to both young women and men entering the legal profession.

UK Law Honors Class of 2016, Awards 146 Graduates with Degrees

May 17, 2016 On Friday, May 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony to honor and celebrate the Class of 2016. 146 eager and remarkable law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: A UK Law diploma. “Today is a day of joy – for graduates and for all of us here today. We all share your sense of accomplishment, your sense of relief, and your sense of anticipation about the future,” said David A. Brennen, Dean at UK College of Law.

Federal Judge Russell Engages in Conversation with Law Students
