UK Law Wellness Initiative Hosts Second Annual 5K to Promote a Healthier Law School Community

October 31, 2017 On your mark, get set, go! On Sunday, October 15, the UK Law Wellness Initiative, a student organization at the University of Kentucky College of Law, held their second annual Race Judicata 5K at Wellington Park to promote a healthier law school community among students, faculty and staff. Approximately 50 participants laced up their running shoes and crossed the 5K finish line, while additional spectators cheered them on along the route.

Kentucky Law Journal Announces Symposium on Religious Exemptions and Harm to Others

October 19, 2017 On Friday, November 3, the Kentucky Law Journal, in conjunction with the University of Kentucky College of Law, will host “Religious Exemptions and Harm to Others.” The symposium will take place at the William T. Young Library in the UK Athletic Association Auditorium. The event is open to the public and will begin at 8:15 a.m.

Trivia Night Raises Record Amount for UK Law Legal Clinic

October 4, 2017 30 teams battled it out at HopCat last month for the University of Kentucky College of Law’s third annual Trivia Night. A record $1,540 was raised by students, faculty and staff to benefit the UK Law Legal Clinic. Approximately 200 members of the UK Law community came out to answer questions in categories that included horse racing, Kentucky sports, and bourbon. The money raised will go towards purchasing Thanksgiving dinners, and covering filing fees and other costs for Legal Clinic clients. 

UK Law Students Raise the Bar with Success at Tax Law Competitions Across the Nation

April 20, 2017 Law students at the University of Kentucky College of Law have raised the bar this academic year with their success at various tax law competitions across the nation, including the 2016-2017 ABA Section of Taxation Law Student Tax Challenge, the Florida Bar Association Tax Moot Court Competition, the Inaugural Southeastern Regional Tax Challenge, and the Alfred Mugel Buffalo Tax Moot Court Competition.

Members of UK Law National Trial Team Advance to Finals in Regional Competition

March 31, 2017 The University of Kentucky College of Law’s National Trial team of Seth Fortenbery and Nealy Williams made it to the final round of the 2017 National Trial Competition Regional Tournament, held February 18-19 at the Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

UK Law’s Bankruptcy Moot Court Team Reaches Top 8 in Annual Competition

March 30, 2017 The University of Kentucky College of Law’s Bankruptcy Moot Court team of Grace Greenwell and Alex Magera tackled both sides of a bankruptcy case to finish in the top 8 of the 25th Annual Duberstein Moot Court Competition, which attracted 48 teams from across the nation.

UK Law Hosts Conference to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of In re Gault

March 22, 2017 On Monday, March 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law hosted a conference entitled, “In re Gault: 50 Years Later,” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the landmark United States Supreme Court decision In re Gault, 387 U.S. 1 (1967). The event took place in the UK Law Courtroom and was open to the public.

UK Law’s KJEANRL Hosts Third Annual Symposium

March 21, 2017 On Tuesday, February 28, the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, & Natural Resources Law (KJEANRL), in conjunction with the University of Kentucky College of Law, hosted its third annual symposium entitled, “Faces of the Bluegrass.” Legal practitioners and regulators from across Kentucky shared their thoughts on current legal, policy, and regulation issues affecting the environment, natural resources, and energy. The symposium took place in the UK Law Courtroom and was open to the public.
