Mary J. Davis Named Interim Dean of College of Law

University of Kentucky Provost David Blackwell has named Professor Mary J. Davis to the position of interim dean of the College of Law. Dean David A. Brennen has been selected to participate in the American Council on Education's (ACE) Fellows Program, the longest running leadership development program in the United States. At the conclusion of the fellowship year, Brennen will return to UK with new knowledge and skills that contribute to capacity-building efforts, along with a network of peers across the country and abroad.

UK Law’s #OneDayForUK Raises $15K-plus for Law School Projects

The University of Kentucky’s One Day for UK, a 24-hour day of giving celebrated on April 17, netted over $1M from 3,262 gifts, including $15,612 allocated for law school projects. In its first year, the goal of One Day for UK was to raise awareness about the campaign and to encourage giving for the University of Kentucky. The online, social-media-driven campaign centered around community outreach, including reconnecting with alumni, engaging young alumni and motivating its strongest supporters to make a gift to any college, unit or cause of their choice.

UK Law Alumni Admitted to U.S. Supreme Court Bar

Jan. 18, 2019 Nine UK Law alumni were recently admitted as members of the United States Supreme Court Bar. The alumni were joined by Dean David A. Brennen and his wife, Kimberly Brennen, who were also admitted. John McGarvey, a 1973 UK Law graduate, served as the movant for the group to be admitted to the Bar. Chief Justice John G. Roberts presided over the proceeding before the full court, with the exception of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and admitted the candidates to the Bar.

January 12, 2018 University of Kentucky College of Law Dean David A. Brennen was featured during “UK at the Half,” which aired during the UK vs. Louisville men’s basketball game, broadcast on radio Dec. 29. Dean Brennen discussed employment rate of graduates, rankings and UK Law’s major rebuild and expansion project. “This new facility is going to have about 122,500 square feet, so about 26% more space,” said Dean Brennen. “Our older facility had seven classrooms, this one’s going to have 11 classrooms. Our old facility had one courtroom, this will have two.”

UK Law Wellness Initiative Hosts Second Annual 5K to Promote a Healthier Law School Community

On Sunday, October 15, the UK Law Wellness Initiative, a student organization at the University of Kentucky College of Law, held their second annual Race Judicata 5K at Wellington Park to promote a healthier law school community among students, faculty and staff. Approximately 50 participants laced up their running shoes and crossed the 5K finish line, while additional spectators cheered them on along the route.
