Black Law Students Association

MISSION STATEMENT

Our primary mission is to help our members achieve their professional and academic goals, in the hopes of increasing representation of the Black community and its allies in the legal world. We are also committed to fostering a strong mentorship and peer-to-peer relationships amongst our members that last through law school and beyond. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, or sexual orientation in the provision of any club benefits. We encourage students of all backgrounds to join our ranks, run for office, and participate in our activities/events.

WHAT WE DO

We expect to accomplish our mission by organizing:

• meet & greets with local attorneys and judges;
• talks and mock interviews with active professionals;
• mentorship meet ups and help sessions;
• parties, dinners, galas, and similar outings; and
• other events that help effectuate our goals as the need or opportunity arises.

We at BLSA realize that it takes more than just the members’ enthusiasm to advance our mission. For that reason, we invite Attorneys, Faculty, and Alumni alike to reach out and share any ideas for talks, meet & greets, or other professional or social events that they might want BLSA to help with or participate in.

Prospective Students:

Join BLSA and the Latino/a Law Student Association for Law Student for a Day!

Activities. Participating students get to meet the UK Law dean, admissions director, faculty, and current students. They also have an opportunity to attend a lecture given by a UK Law faculty and speak candidly with current students about the law school experience.
