The Moot Court Board at the University of Kentucky College of Law plays a pivotal role in shaping the advocacy skills of law students through its comprehensive programs. The Board manages the first-year oral advocacy program and offers an extensive upper-class program, which second-year students may elect to join. Both the Moot Court Board and the National Moot Court Team are selected through rigorous intra-school competitions, maintaining a tradition of excellence and competitive spirit.
UK’s National Moot Court Team has a storied history of success, boasting numerous regional and national titles. Each year, the College of Law fields multiple moot court teams that participate in various national and international competitions. Recent competitions have covered a wide range of legal fields, including international commercial law, the law of evidence, First Amendment law, sports law, and telecommunications law.
Recent Achievements:
The 2023-2024 National Moot Court "Team A", comprising Harper Anderson, Eddie Beusch, and Lauren Eickholz, won the Regional Competition held in Richmond, Virginia. Competing against 17 teams from Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina, "Team A" advanced through the preliminary rounds, quarter-final, semi-final, and final rounds to secure the regional title, securing their place in the Final Competition in New York City.
