four winners of the amca front 2026

Undergraduate students from 19 universities across the country participated in the American Moot Court Association Final Round of the National Tournament held Saturday, Feb. 21 – Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, co-hosted with Berea College.

This year marked the first time the final round of the undergraduate moot court competition was held at UK Rosenberg College of Law. The collaboration with Berea College started in 2022 when the two schools teamed up to co-host the Bluegrass Regional Undergraduate Moot Court Tournament, a qualifier for the national tournament. The success of that tournament led to UK Rosenberg College of Law and Berea College co-hosting one of the national series of tournaments leading to the crowning of the national champions in 2024 and 2025.

The undergraduate schools represented in this year’s final round of the tournament were Baylor University; College of Wooster; California State University, Fullerton; California State University, Long Beach; Georgetown University; Liberty University; Macalester College; Patrick Henry College; Regent University; Standford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of California, Davis; University of California, Santa Barbara; University of Central Florida; University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; University of Southern California; University of Texas at Arlington; University of Virginia; and Yale University.

Local attorneys and judges, including many UK Rosenberg Law alumni, as well as law faculty, volunteered to serve as justices for each round of the tournament. Current law students also volunteered to serve as bailiffs and justices.

American Moot Court Association officials, Berea College volunteers and UK Rosenberg College of Law staff worked together to run the tournament over two days. The undergraduate students competed in every classroom throughout the law building before moving to the G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom for the final round on Sunday afternoon.

Katie Cassady and Eric Mathemeir of Liberty University took home the first-place trophy. The runners up were Patrick Henry College students Haley Bock and Luke Buck.

“You all have done such a fantastic job,” said Laken Albrink, assistant clinical professor of legal research and writing, who served as a justice in the final competition in the Grand Courtroom. As the students waited for the competition results, Albrink praised their extensive knowledge and preparation. “You all are so fantastic. Thank you so much for visiting our beautiful campus.”

“I couldn’t have asked for more,” Mathemeir said, following the announcement that he and his teammate had won the competition. “We’ve been really blessed. This partnership has been a blessing.”

“We have a really phenomenal program at Liberty,” Cassady said. She described the experience as beautiful and rewarding, especially the camaraderie among the competitors. “The community aspect for me has been awesome,” she said.

Thank you to our alumni, faculty, students and friends in the legal community who volunteered during the tournament.
