UK Law Professor and Award-Winning Author Set to Release New Book

September 14, 2017 Richard H. Underwood, the Edward T. Breathitt Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law and winner of two Independent Publisher Book Awards and the 2016 Foreword Reviews INDIES Award (Bronze: True Crime), will release his new book, Gaslight Lawyers: Criminal Trials & Exploits in Gilded Age New York, at Joseph-Beth Booksellers on Sept. 19. The release event is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.

UK Law Announces Lineup for Fall Visiting Speaker Series

August 28, 2017 Faculty members at the University of Kentucky College of Law will engage with scholars from other schools across the nation this fall by continuing to host two visiting speaker series: the Randall-Park Distinguished Speaker and Faculty Brownbag Speaker. Both series bring distinguished legal scholars to UK Law to present and discuss their research and ideas, providing important opportunities for junior scholars to share their research. Both series also increase the profile of the college by introducing UK Law faculty to senior scholars from other schools.

UK Law's Jennifer Bird-Pollan is 2017 Duncan Teaching Award Recipient

August 9, 2017 Jennifer Bird-Pollan, James and Mary Lassiter Associate Professor of Law, is the recipient of the 2017 Duncan Teaching Award at the University of Kentucky College of Law.  Every year, a UK Law faculty member is recognized for excellence in the classroom, courtesy of the Robert M. and Joanne K. Duncan Faculty Improvement Fund – established in 1982 to promote outstanding teaching performance at the college.

UK Law Professor Teaches US IP Law to Chinese Law Students

June 22, 2017 Brian L. Frye, Spears-Gilbert Associate Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law, recently returned from China where he taught a three-week class on United States Intellectual Property law at the Jilin University School of Law, one of the top law schools in China. “It was an amazing experience to have young Chinese students who were so excited about learning intellectual property law,” said Prof. Frye.

UK Law Hosts 7th Annual Golf Tournament, Raises Funds to Benefit Students

UK Law Students Provide Free Filing Assistance, Save Tax Payers over $100,000 in Fees

May 31, 2017 This spring, the University of Kentucky College of Law continued one of its signature pro bono efforts – the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Law student volunteers provided free assistance with tax preparations and filings to mostly low income individuals with simple returns.
