The Campus

UK's Lexington Campus is located just south of the downtown area and has over 100 major buildings. The campus consists of a graduate school, the University hospital and 16 colleges. UK's Graduate School offers 90 master's degree programs and 61 doctoral degree programs. Enrollment on the central campus is more than 26,000 and includes students from every state and more than 100 foreign countries. UK's W.T. Young Library is a state-of-the art research facility that was completed in 2000.

The College of Law and our students benefit from having available the research and instructional facilities of a major university, as well as the amenities of a large university campus.

The Law Building

The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law building is an academic space serving the needs of law students, faculty and staff. The college allows the UK community some access to reserve select rooms in the building on a case-by-case basis. The college provides limited staff support for non-college events held in the building.

Centrally located on the University of Kentucky's main Lexington campus, the College of Law is a self-contained academic unit with complete facilities for a quality legal education. The College of Law ranks as a medium-sized law school, with approximately 420 full-time students and 29 full-time faculty members. UK is large enough for a diverse and interesting curriculum, and small enough to foster friendly relationships among students, faculty and administrators.

The Law Library is a part of the Law Building, and contains over a third of a million volumes. The Law Library is arranged to provide students with easy access to all necessary research materials. In addition to state, federal and administrative court reporters, the Law Library is a depository for U.S. Government publications. Perhaps the Library's greatest resource is its staff, who are dedicated to providing the best possible service to UK Law's students and faculty.

Available space for other campus departments to request includes the G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom and the Honorable William S. Cooper ’70 classrooms on the third floor/event space. UK Rosenberg College of Law faculty, staff and registered student organizations have the ability to request other spaces in the building. Required fees will be charged to groups outside the college for the necessary services provided while using our facilities. Requests for space can be made at https://meetatbigblue.uky.edu/

All requests for space in the building will be reviewed by the Director of Special Events. If the space request is acceptable to the college, the request will be forwarded to the Office of University Events (UE) for review. The space is not officially approved and reserved until you have received an approval confirmation from the Director of Special Events and/or the Office of University Events.

Please refer to the UK Rosenberg College of Law Facility Policies before requesting space in the building.

Student Housing

Our students arrange their own housing, either in accommodations maintained by the University or in private residences or apartments. Most UK Law students choose to live off-campus however, campus housing is available for law and other graduate students. Privately-owned rental property at all price ranges is readily available in Lexington, and some rental houses near campus are available for lease from UK. If you are interested in University-owned houses that are available for lease, please contact University of Kentucky, Graduate and Family Housing, 300 Alumni Drive Apartment 156, Lexington, Kentucky, 40503, (859) 257-3721. Incoming students receive an abundance of housing information from the College of Law Orientation Committee.

Services for Disabled Students: UK's Disability Resource Center provides many services for students with physical and learning disabilities. The College of Law works with the Center to provide reasonable accommodations for any law student with a documented disability. Parking

On-campus and commuter student parking is available at convenient distances from the College of Law. Free bus shuttle service is available from the campus lot used by most law students. Admitted students can apply online for parking permit in the summer before law school.

University Health Service, connected with the UK Medical Center and paid for with student fees, provides outpatient medical and mental health services for all UK students, but not including hospitalization, surgical services, accident care, referrals and after-hours care. A University major medical group health insurance plan also is available for a reasonable additional cost.
