We are so excited that you're #UKLawBound.  Now that you've been admitted, it's time to learn more about your new Kentucky home, and start preparing for Fall 2024.

▢ Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) & Financial Aid

If you haven’t done so already, complete the FAFSA and make sure to list the University of Kentucky in Step 6. The code for UK is 001989.

Federal financial aid: UK Rosenberg Law students are eligible to apply for the following types of federal financial aid:

All federal financial aid is coordinated by the UK Office of Student Financial Aid. UK Rosenberg Law students can find a list of financial aid counselors here. If you have questions about your financial aid package, contact a financial aid counselor; if you are having trouble getting in touch with a financial aid counselor, contact UK Rosenberg Law Admissions and we will try to assist. NOTE: Before you have access to myUK, a financial aid counselor may not be able to provide specific financial aid information; this should happen a few weeks after the April 15. 2024 deposit deadline.

Institutional Aid: All admitted candidates will be considered automatically for merit and diversity scholarships. There is no additional application for UK Rosenberg Law scholarships. To accept a scholarship offer, you must return the signed scholarship agreement and pay the first nonrefundable seat deposit no later than the deadline outlined in the scholarship agreement.

▢ Accept or Decline Your Offer of Admission to UK Rosenberg Law

To accept your offer of admission, make sure to pay your nonrefundable seat deposit by the deadline listed in your admission letter. Your deposit will be credited toward your first semester tuition when you join us in the fall.

If you will be attending another law school in Fall 2024 or wish to defer your acceptance, please email us at uklawadmissions@uky.edu.

▢ Send your degree-granting transcript

Before Orientation begins in August, we need to have one official transcript from your undergraduate degree-granting institution with your degree posted for our files. Unless your final transcript was already sent to us via LSAC's Credential Assembly Service (CAS), or unless you are a graduate of the University of Kentucky, we will need you to send us a final copy of your official transcript noting the completion of your degree requirements.

We will accept official electronic copies as long as they are from the appropriate office (usually the Registrar or Records office) emailed to uklawadmissions@uky.edu. If an electronic copy is not available, you can have an official transcript mailed directly to: UK Rosenberg Law Admissions, 620 S. Limestone St., Suite 140, Lexington, KY 40506-0048.

▢ Find a place to live

Most UK Rosenberg Law students tend to live off campus in a variety of off-campus housing options.

If you wish to live on campus, there is a new complex for Graduate and Professional students that opened in Fall 2017 called University Flats. You can view more on that here.

Additionally, UK Graduate & Family Housing has several properties that are specifically designated for graduate and professional students, both on- and off-campus.

▢ Apply for a Parking Permit

Closer to the beginning of the Fall semester, you can apply for a UK Parking Permit online via the Parking and Transportation Services site. As we approach the date that you will be eligible to apply, we will send out more details on which type of pass to apply for and which parking lots are the closest to UK Rosenberg Law.

▢ Purchase Health Insurance

All full-time UK students pay a mandatory health fee as part of tuition that entitles them to most services at University Health Services at minimal cost. Health insurance is recommended for expenses not covered by the health fee, including most diagnostic procedures (e.g. laboratory tests, X-rays, MRIs), surgery, hospitalization, and prescription medication. UK does offer a school-sponsored health insurance plan and information on those can be found here.

▢ Activate your LinkBlue ID & log in to myUK in late summer

We’ll send out information about accessing your LinkBlue ID and your myUK account in late summer. You should look for an email to confirm the mailing address we have on file to ensure timely receipt.

▢ Registering for classes? Don't worry about it!

Don’t worry about registering for your classes, we take care of that for you for your first year! Watch your email in August for the notification that your schedule is available in myUK.

▢ Buy Your Textbooks

Prior to Orientation, the law school will send out a complete list of textbooks required for all first-year courses. Pay close attention to section numbers and the listed professor. You will find the UK Barnes and Noble Bookstore on the main UK campus in the Gatton Student Center; however, there are several alternative options for purchasing or renting textbooks including eCampus.comamazon.com, etc.

▢ Enjoy Your Summer

We will be in touch periodically throughout the summer to update you on important things that will be happening before the official start of classes in August. Among other things, we will be letting you know who your student mentor is, when you will be able to apply for parking, and more.
