The Young Lawyers Division of the Kentucky Bar Association honored UK College of Law Professor Bob Lawson with the 2014 Outstanding Service to Young Lawyers Award during their annual luncheon at the Kentucky Bar Association Convention on June 19. Professor Allison Connelly, the inaugural recipient of this award, introduced Professor Lawson. Professors William Fortune, Chris Frost, Melissa Henke, and Kathy Moore were also in attendance to watch Professor Lawson receive this well-deserved honor. Recipients of the Service to Young Lawyers Award and Young Lawyer Service to Community Award were also honored.

Before the annual luncheon, multiple UK College of Law professors presented at the KBA Convention at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Professors Allison Connelly and Kathryn Moore discussed “Same Sex Marriage in a Post-Perry and Windsor America.” The program discussed the same-sex marriage movement nationally and the legal arguments made for and against marriage equality. The program also offered a survey of federal legal rights and benefits associated with marriage.
