Several state and national news outlets interviewed University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law Professor Joshua A. Douglas in November following Kentucky’s 2019 gubernatorial election.

Douglas, Thomas P. Lewis Professor of Law, is widely known as an expert on U.S. election law. He is the author of Vote for US: How to Take Back our Elections and Change the Future of Voting, which was published in April 2019. His media commentaries have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and USA Today, and he has been featured on CNN during Election Night coverage.

Reporters sought Douglas’ expertise following a close race for Kentucky governor between incumbent Gov. Matt Bevin and Gov.-elect Andy Beshear. Bevin conceded after a recanvass of election results.

Douglas specializes in election law, voting rights, constitutional law, civil procedure and judicial decision-making. He teaches Election Law, Constitutional Law II, Civil Procedure I and Supreme Court Decision Making.

Prior to joining UK, Douglas clerked for the Honorable Edward C. Prado of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and practiced litigation at the law firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. Douglas earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
