UK Law continues to adhere to high academic standards and does not condone grade inflation. Our most recent GPA and class rank distributions are available to employers recruiting at UK. When viewing this information in relation to students or graduates, please keep in mind our high admissions standards, their records of academic achievement at other institutions, past employment and other experiences, involvement in activities and leadership, the number of courses taken by a student, and the fact that one low grade may significantly affect a student’s GPA and class rank.

The average grade at UK College of Law changed beginning in the fall of 2007. Please note that the average grade for 1L, 2Ls and 3Ls is now from 2.90 to 3.10. In the past, under the former grading system, the average grade for 1Ls was 2.60 to 2.80 and for 2Ls and 3Ls the average grade was 2.70 to 3.00.  The faculty voted for this change after taking various considerations into account, such as our rigorous admissions standards. Under both the old and the new systems, professors may deviate from the range under certain circumstances.
