UK Law Student Lands UN Internship in Ethiopia

February 17, 2017 Lesley Nash, a dual degree student at the University of Kentucky College of Law and Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, recently took a leave of absence from school, packed up everything she owned, and made arrangements to move halfway across the world for an extraordinary opportunity with the United Nations (UN) Internship Programme.

UK Law Hosts Brunch to Honor 2016-17 Scholarship Donors, Recipients

February 17, 2017 On February 11, 2017, University of Kentucky College of Law students, alumni and friends gathered at Copper Roux for a brunch in honor of the 2016-17 scholarship recipients and donors. The event gave over 60 exceptional law students and donors the opportunity to fellowship. Students expressed their appreciation to the generous alumni and friends of UK Law and the donors learned firsthand how big of an impact they are making in the lives of current students.

UK Law students will provide free tax preparation starting Feb. 20

February 15, 2017 This spring, the University of Kentucky College of Law will continue one of its signature pro bono efforts – the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. The UK Tax Clinic will be open Monday, February 20 through Tuesday, April 18. Taxpayers can schedule an appointment at http://law.uky.edu/tax.

UK Law Announces Lineup for Spring Visiting Speaker Series

January 23, 2017 Faculty members at the University of Kentucky College of Law will engage with scholars from other schools across the nation this spring by continuing to host two visiting speaker series: the Randall-Park Distinguished Speaker and Faculty Brownbag Speaker.  Both series bring distinguished legal scholars to UK Law to present and discuss their research and ideas, providing important opportunities for junior scholars to share their research, and increasing the profile of the college by introducing UK Law faculty to senior scholars from other schools.

Chief Justice of the United States Visits UK

February 1, 2017 By Whitney Harder University of Kentucky College of Law students as well as judges, lawyers and clerks from across Kentucky were provided an extraordinary opportunity on February 1, as the Hon. John G. Roberts Jr., Chief Justice of the United States, visited the UK campus. Chief Justice Roberts was here as the first speaker for the newly established John G. Heyburn II Initiative for Excellence in the Federal Judiciary.

TAB Mock Trial Team Wins Title of Best Advocates in Kentucky, Brings Trophy Home to UK Law

The Lexington Film League (LFL) is a Kentucky 501(c)(3) charitable corporation organized and operated by Lexington-based filmmakers and film enthusiasts. It sponsors many different film and video programs in the Lexington area, including the Harry Dean Stanton Festival, Filmslang, and the Showcase at 21c Museum Hotel Lexington. It also helps with the logistics of the Cult Movies at Al’s Bar.

Women’s Law Caucus and UK Law Professors Team Up to Raise Money for Markey Cancer Center

In its second year since its inception, the event raised over $900 from ticket sales and donations.
