Professor Mary Davis Selected as UK Law’s University Research Professor for 2016-17

May 17, 2016 The University of Kentucky Office of the Vice President for Research, with approval by the Board of Trustees, selected Mary Davis, Stites & Harbison Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law, as the college’s University Research Professor for the 2016-17 year.

UK Law Hosts Reception to Celebrate Faculty Scholarship

May 17, 2016 On April 28, the University of Kentucky College of Law hosted a reception at the Hilary J. Boone Center to acknowledge the strength of UK Law faculty through scholarship. Initiated in 2014, the Faculty Scholarship Reception recognizes articles from the previous two years and books from the last five years. The importance of the biennial event is to acknowledge the impact UK Law faculty are making both internally across campus and externally across the commonwealth and the nation.

UK Law Honors Class of 2016, Awards 146 Graduates with Degrees

May 17, 2016 On Friday, May 6, the University of Kentucky College of Law held its Commencement Ceremony to honor and celebrate the Class of 2016. 146 eager and remarkable law students walked across the stage in the Singletary Center for the Arts ready to claim their award for three years of hard work: A UK Law diploma. “Today is a day of joy – for graduates and for all of us here today. We all share your sense of accomplishment, your sense of relief, and your sense of anticipation about the future,” said David A. Brennen, Dean at UK College of Law.

UK Law Professor Receives Fellowship from LAPA, Will Spend Next Year at Princeton University

May 12, 2016 Melynda J. Price, the Robert E. Harding, Jr. Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law, has received a fellowship from Woodrow Wilson School’s Program in Law and Public Affairs (LAPA) and will spend the 2016-17 academic year at Princeton University. Prof. Price was one of six fellows selected in a competitive process from a large interdisciplinary and international applicant pool.

UK Law Professor Publishes New Book, Gives Behind-the-Scenes Look at Major Cases in Election Law

April 21, 2016 Joshua A. Douglas, the Robert G. Lawson & William H. Fortune Associate Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law, along with co-author Eugene D. Mazo, has published a new book, "Election Law Stories." The 593-page book offers a deep-dive into the most significant cases in election law across the nation, including the landmark decisions of Reynolds v. Sims, Bush v. Gore, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, and Shelby County v. Holder.

Professor Brian Frye Honored with Grant for the Legal Academy

April 11, 2016 Brian L. Frye, Assistant Professor of Law at the UK College of Law, has been selected by the University of Houston Law Center’s Institute for Intellectual Property & Information Law (IPIL) to receive the 2016 Sponsored Scholarship Grant (SSG) for the Legal Academy. The IPIL SSG Program is designed to facilitate newly-authored scholarship in specific areas of IPIL within the legal academy. For 2015-16, the focus is Copyright, Entertainment, Media, Art and Sports Law.
