Women's Law Caucus Honors UK Law Professor and Retired Judge

April 8, 2019 The University of Kentucky College of Law Women’s Law Caucus hosted its annual Spring Luncheon this month at the Hilary J. Boone Center.  Alumni and distinguished members of the legal profession joined students, faculty, and staff to recognize retired judge Janet Stumbo and Professor Jane Bloom Grisé. 

UK Law Wellness Initiative Hosts Third Annual 5K to Promote a Healthier Law School Community

November 2, 2018 Despite a rainy, windy start, the annual Judicata 5K brought the UK law community together for what turned out to be a gorgeous fall day in Lexington, Kentucky.  The third annual event took place October 28 at Wellington Park, with 35 people and eight dogs running to the finish line.

UK Law Student Bar Association Hosts Mental Health Day Event for Students

November 1, 2018 The Student Bar Association (SBA) hosted the first entirely student-led Mental Health Day event at UK Law last month, bringing together students and key resources to enhance and support mental health.  This initiative featured guest speakers and multiple vendors from the community who shared information regarding valuable resources available to students. 

Author and keynote speaker Brian Cuban to speak at UK Law

February 14, 2018 On Monday, February 19, the UK Law Wellness Initiative, a student organization at the University of Kentucky College of Law, will host Brian Cuban, a Dallas based attorney, author and addiction recovery advocate and the younger brother of Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban. Cuban will speak at the Gatton College of Business and Economics in Woodward Hall (room 307) from 12:00 – 12:50 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

UK Law Wellness Initiative Hosts Second Annual 5K to Promote a Healthier Law School Community

October 31, 2017 On your mark, get set, go! On Sunday, October 15, the UK Law Wellness Initiative, a student organization at the University of Kentucky College of Law, held their second annual Race Judicata 5K at Wellington Park to promote a healthier law school community among students, faculty and staff. Approximately 50 participants laced up their running shoes and crossed the 5K finish line, while additional spectators cheered them on along the route.

UK Law Puts Their Best Foot Forward, Walks Over 10,000 Steps a Day

July 19, 2016 Ready, set, step up! Faculty and staff at the University of Kentucky College of Law put fitness first this summer during the LiveWell college/division Step Up challenge – a friendly competition to reach the highest group step average at the University of Kentucky. And UK Law didn’t tread lightly, earning third place out of 30 teams across campus. The team, made up of 16 participants with a motivation to move, averaged 11,261 steps per day during the 42 day span. Team members included:

September 29, 2015 So, you matriculated into law school. What’s next? How do you prepare for your new reality of reading cases and making outlines? What is an outline anyway? What will classes be like? Will you get along with your classmates? These are questions that pass through the minds of all first year law students in some form or fashion. And University of Kentucky College of Law has developed a program to help our incoming students answer these questions and more, prior to their first day of law school.
