The National Association of Law Placement publishes an online resource called the NALP Directory of Legal Employers, www.nalpdirectory.com, which lists legal employers, contact information, hiring contacts, salary information, billable hours, hiring plans, and other demographic information for participating employers. The resource also has a search function which allows you to search for employers by practice area or geographic location, identify employers who indicate that they will consider 1Ls for employment, or locate employers that permit students to work for part of the summer instead of the entire summer, which is usually referred to as a split summer. The majority of the employers in the directory are large firms; however, it also includes some public interest organizations, corporations, and government employers.
