In additional to the numerous job search resources mentioned in other sections of this website, if you are looking for employment outside of Kentucky, please contact UK Law Career Development and we will request reciprocity for you with a law school in the area of your job search. If reciprocity is granted, you will normally be able to access job listings posted by the out-of-state law school. Reciprocity is usually only available for graduate job listings, so it may not be a good resource for 1Ls and 2Ls for summer positions.

If you plan to leave Kentucky after graduation, you should contact Career Development during the spring of your third year. When you contact Career Development please state the law school where you would like reciprocity and two alternate law schools. UK Law will then write a letter of reciprocity for you to the law school of interest to you. According to nationwide reciprocity policies, Career Development may only obtain reciprocity for you from one law school.

UK Law Career Development participates in the online Intercollegiate Job Bank with over 130 other law schools from across the country. Participating law schools upload newsletters with job listings to this job bank. Alumni and students from participating law schools can then search the Intercollegiate Job Bank for job openings in other states. While there may be a few summer opportunities listed, most of the job postings are usually for recent graduates and alumni. Third-year students may wish to apply for some of the graduate postings in case the employer does not obtain application materials from a graduate or alumni of interest to them. If you would like to access this resource, please contact Career Development.
