Advocacy in Appalachia: A Talk with Evan Smith

The Appalachian Law Caucus will host Evan Smith, Advocacy Director at AppalReD Legal Aid. He will discuss with students about the vital role AppalReD plays in  advancing justice across Eastern Kentucky, drawing on his experience in appellate advocacy and Federal Black Lung Benefits Law. This event will examine the unique legal challenges faced by rural, underserved communities and the opportunities available for law students who are interested in public interest legal practice.

Kentucky Court of Appeals Oral Arguments

The Kentucky Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in two cases beginning at 1:00 pm.  The panel of judges includes Hon. Larry E. Thompson, Hon. Susanne M. Cetrulo, and Hon. William P. Moynahan. Law students are also invited to attend a Q&A with the judges at noon in the Grand Courtroom.  Lunch will be provided. Please note that backpacks will not be allowed in the courtroom during the session.
