UK Rosenberg College of Law Professor Wins Award for Best Podcast

A University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law professor was recently recognized for his podcast that delves into the heart of democratic processes, elections, and voting rights. Democracy Optimist with Josh Douglas, associate dean for research and J. David Rosenberg Professor of Law, poses the question: How do we sustain our democracy? The podcast won the 2025 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Podcast in the region (Small Market Radio Station, Region 8).

The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees recently approved 18 University Research Professors for the 2025-2026 academic year, including Michael D. Murray, Spears-Gilbert Associate Professor of Law.

UK Rosenberg Law Professor Brian Frye Among SSRN's Most Downloaded Authors

Brian L. Frye, Spears-Gilbert Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, is one of the most downloaded authors on SSRN, a platform dedicated to the rapid dissemination of preprints and research papers. As of March 1, 2025, Frye held the 26th spot among 3,000 law authors for total new downloads over the past 12 months.

Professor Jonathan Shaub Receives 2024 Award for Excellence in Oversight Research

Today, the Carl Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy granted its 2024 Award for Excellence in Oversight Research to “Common Law Executive Privilege(s),” by Jonathan Shaub, Norman & Carole Harned Associate Professor of Law & Public Policy at University of Kentucky’s Rosenberg College of Law. Chosen by a selection committee composed of law and political science oversight scholars and veteran practitioners, the award-winning paper emerged from a competitive field of excellent candidate papers. The award includes a $2,500 cash prize.

UK law professor releases book on voting rights and democracy

University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law Ashland, Inc-Spears Distinguished Research Professor of Law Joshua Douglas is the author of the newest book to examine the erosion of voting rights and its implications for democracy, told through the stories of nine Supreme Court decisions — and the next coming case.

UK Rosenberg Law Professor Joshua Douglas Receives Fulbright Specialist Award to Italy at Luiss-Guido Carli University in Rome

The U.S. Department of State and Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board recently announced that Professor Joshua Douglas, Ashland, Inc-Spears Distinguished Research Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law, has received a Fulbright Specialist Program award. Douglas will complete a project at Luiss-Guido Carli University in Italy that aims to exchange knowledge and establish partnerships benefiting participants, institutions, and communities both in the U.S.
