UK Rosenberg Law currently offers four dual degree programs. Interested applicants must apply to both programs independently.
JD/MA in Diplomacy and International Commerce
If you are interested in the JD/MA dual degree program, you must apply independently to both programs and meet the admission standards of each. Admission standards will be the same as if you were applying solely to one program however, you should note on all applications that admission is being sought for the JD/MA dual degree program. The dual degree program is not suitable for part-time MA students. There is no part-time program at UK Rosenberg Law.
If you are currently enrolled in either UK Rosenberg Law or the Patterson School, you can be considered for admission to the JD/MA dual degree program. You will be eligible for consideration as a current student only if you have completed no more than one full-time semester in either program. Your application for admission must be accepted by the program in which you are not enrolled. The JD/MA dual degree program is not available if you already have earned one of the degrees.
MA in Diplomacy and International Commerce Admission Requirements & Checklist
Applications must be submitted online to the UK Graduate School. All applications are due February 1. Those admitted will start the program together as a class the following autumn.
The process starts by creating a personal account with a unique username and password that will facilitate assembling and submitting the information required for both admissions and fellowship consideration (we are part of Hobson’s Apply Yourself network). Supplementary materials are submitted electronically via this account. You may return to your application as needed to revise information or upload new materials before formal submission. The UK Graduate School application fee is $65.00 for domestic applicants and $75.00 for international applicants.
A complete application includes:
- Graduate School Application.
- Personal statement (500 words) outlining your interest in our program, as well as how you believe it will advance your educational and professional goals. This should be uploaded directly to your application.
- Résumé. This should be 1-2 pages in length. Please include any activities that reflect your exposure to international affairs and public policy, as well as any foreign language proficiency. Your résumé should be uploaded directly to your application.
- Letters of recommendation. Two to four letters should be provided from either faculty members or employers. Details regarding their submission are provided in the graduate school application.
- GRE scores. These may be self-reported on your application, but you should also request that they be sent directly from Educational Testing Service. The institution code for UK Graduate School is R1837.
- Transcripts. You should upload scanned copies of official transcripts from each college, professional school, or university that you have attended.
- Applicants whose native language is not English must submit either a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score. The score may be self-reported in the application, but should also be sent directly to UK Graduate School by the reporting agency. The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (Internet-based). The minimum IELTS score is 6.5. International students who receive college degrees from US universities, from universities in other English-speaking countries, or from programs where the language of instruction is English may be exempted from taking the TOEFL test.
JD/MBA
If you are interested in the JD/MBA dual degree program, you must apply formally and independently to both programs and meet the admission standards of each. Admission standards will be the same as if you were applying solely to one program however, you should note on all applications that admission is being sought for the JD/MBA dual degree program. The dual degree program is not suitable for part-time MBA students. There is no part-time program at UK Rosenberg Law.
For the College of Business and Economics, you must meet all application requirements to the College and the Graduate School as specified on the MBA Admissions web page. The MBA Admissions Committee may elect to waive the GMAT/GRE requirement for students accepted/enrolled at UK Rosenberg Law; however, all scholarships for the MBA program are awarded on the basis of GMAT/GRE test scores; therefore, to be considered for scholarships you must take the GMAT/GRE.
For the UK Rosenberg College of Law, you need to follow the admissions guidelines as set forth on the Apply site.
JD/MHA

MHA Admission Requirements & Checklist
Step 1: Apply to SOPHAS (Your SOPHAS application is for admission to the UK College of Public Health.)
You will need the following to complete your application:
- CV or resume
- Statement of purpose and objectives
- Transcripts for ALL higher education institutions attended
- International transcripts should be evaluated by WES
The following will be sent directly to SOPHAS:
- GRE, GMAT, and/or MCAT scores
- For international students, official TOEFL or IELTS scores
- Letters of recommendation
To be eligible for any opportunities offered by the College please answer “Yes” as indicated on the financial assistance portion of your SOPHAS application.

Step 2: Apply to the UK Graduate School (Supplemental Application - Your Graduate School application is for admission to UK.)
- With the exception of the DrPH program, all applications must be submitted to the Graduate School.
- All information received from your SOPHAS application is sent to the Graduate School from the College of Public Health.
- When completing your application for the Graduate School, you can either upload the documents that you used for your SOPHAS application, or you can submit blank documents as place holders.
- The application fee is $65.00 for domestic applicants and $75.00 for international applicants and is nonrefundable.
You will not need to complete the Assistantship Application as part of the Graduate School Supplemental Application. That is an optional section that some other programs use; the College of Public Health does not use that application. You can upload a blank document for this section. Information about assistantship opportunities within the College will be shared with students as they become available.

The Admissions Committee takes into account many factors for admissions decisions. Generally, the Committee requires a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75, and a minimum graduate GPA of 3.0. Official GRE, GMAT or MCAT scores should be at the 50th percentile or better.

JD/MPA

The dual degree program is not suitable for part-time MPA students. There is no part-time program at UK Rosenberg Law.
If you are currently enrolled in either the JD or the MPA program, you can be considered for admission to the JD/MPA Dual Degree Program. You will be eligible for consideration after the end of your first year and if no more than 24 credit hours of the MPA program are completed. Your application for admission must be accepted by the program in which you are not enrolled. The JD/MPA program is not available if you already have earned one of the degrees.
Competitive applicants to the MPA program will come with a knowledge of microeconomics, such as that obtained from taking ECO 201 at UK. They will have GRE or GMAT scores at or above the fiftieth percentile, and a desire to work in the Public or Not-for-profit sector.
MPA Admission Requirements & Checklist
All applications for graduate study at the UK Graduate School must be submitted online. The Graduate School is part of the Hobsons ApplyYourself Application Network. Using this system, you will:
- Set up a new account, pay the application fee, and establish a user name and password
- Complete the application form, including recording your GRE or GMAT Scores. If/when you decide to enroll, you will need to have Educational Testing Service (ETS) send official scores to the Graduate School.
- Upload copies of transcripts from all higher education institutions attended. If/when you decide to enroll, you will need to submit official transcripts to the Graduate School.
- Upload a 2-3 page biographical sketch that describes your reasons for wanting to earn these degrees.
- Upload a resume.
- Supply the email addresses for at least three individuals, preferably professors, who are familiar with your academic abilities, particularly your ability to do graduate work and have agreed to write recommendation letters for you. There is no special form for the recommendations.
- All applicants whose native language is not English will be asked to self-report TOEFL or IELTS scores on the application as well as have official scores directly sent by ETS. See the Graduate School web site for exceptions.
