Our friend and colleague Christopher Wayne Frost was a defining part of the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law. As a graduate of the school (first in his class) and as a member of the faculty for the past twenty-four years, Professor Frost was one of the legends of the law school--part of the soul of the place.

UK Rosenberg Law Hosts Second Breonna Taylor Symposium

The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law hosted a daylong Breonna Taylor Symposium in October 2021 in the college’s G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom. It was the law school’s second daylong symposium related to the case, following the first symposium in October 2020.

This year, the Kentucky Law Journal’s annual symposium examined issues surrounding the racial wealth gap in the United States, including the history of the racial wealth gap, legal rules that have contributed to its growth, and the tax laws that have exacerbated existing wealth inequalities. The event was held virtually and in-person in October in the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law’s G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom.

Jocelyn Lucero is a third-year law student from Lexington, Kentucky. She is serving as the 2021-2022 editor-in-chief of the UK J. David Rosenberg College of Law’s Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture & Natural Resources Law (KJEARNRL). Lucero has a B.A. in International Relations and Affairs as well as Spanish from Transylvania University. This year, both law journals at the college – including the Kentucky Law Journal – are being led by women of color.

The Kentucky Law Journal will hold its annual symposium from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, in the G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom at the UK J. David Rosenberg College of Law. This year’s event is titled, “The Racial Wealth Gap,” and it will explore the legal and historical factors that have contributed to the current state of wealth disparity in the United States that falls largely along racial lines. UK Rosenberg Law to Host its Second Daylong Breonna Taylor Symposium

The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law will host its second daylong Breonna Taylor Symposium on Saturday, Oct. 16, beginning at 9 a.m. in the G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom in the law building. Law professors, criminal justice scholars, judges, attorneys, journalists and activists will discuss the validity of the search warrant in the Breonna Taylor case. Law students Sarah Byres and Bennett Tuleja organized the event with UK Rosenberg Law Professor Blanche Bong Cook.

Professor Jennifer Bird-Pollan Named Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Davis recently announced the creation of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (“DEI”) Student Advisory Board intended to foster communication on issues of racial justice, diversity, and inclusion in the law school community and more broadly.

College Holds Commencement for UK Rosenberg Law Classes of 2020 and 2021

On Friday, May 14, the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law held a commencement ceremony to honor the Class of 2021 as well as the Class of 2020, which did not receive a commencement ceremony last year because of COVID-19 safety restrictions.
